⚡IT'S NO SHOCK. ELECTRIC BOATS ARE ON THE RISE!

From 2022 to 2028, forecasts estimate the electric boat market to grow at a 12.65% CAGR as more cities and individuals switch from combustion engines to electric propulsion.

Environmental concerns, improved technologies, and increased maritime tourism are some of the major factors driving its increased demand in waterways across the globe.

These areas with high marine tourism, water adventures, and fishing activities also have the highest number of electric boats. Unsurprisingly, Europe, with 500M+ annual tourists, currently has the largest market for electric boats, with North America as the fastest growing market, followed by Asia-Pacific.

-What inspired you to join Magonis?
The sea and its rich biodiversity have always called to me, and Magonis is how people like me can boat to enjoy, appreciate, and preserve the aquatic world.

-How would you describe yourself?
An empath with a green thumb and deep love for the written language. If I’m not working on my latest creative piece, you’ll find me in a garden.

-Why do you get out of bed in the morning?
In my home, we start each day by saying, “Happy new day of Vida!” Time with my family, happiness, health, and working on my passions make me eager for each new day.

-What is your best sustainable action?
I’ve been a metal detectorist for 10+ years, and if the trash I found were treasure, my collection would leave any pirate with envy. With this hobby, I grab everything -rusted cans, batteries, fishing weights- and each “treasure” gives me the satisfaction of leaving the ocean cleaner than when I got there.

-What inspired you to join Magonis?
Magonis is a perfect combination of a sustainable startup mindset with a product that captivates me and contributes to a greener future.

-How would you describe yourself?
I'm always looking for new challenges and love traveling to learn about other cultures and habits. My hunger for knowledge drives me to build deep relationships, and I strongly believe in what Benjamin Franklin said: "Tell me, and I forget, teach me, and I may remember, involve me, and I learn."

-Why do you get out of bed in the morning?
The smiles from my wife and two daughters, and knowing that I'm sharing Magonis with the rest of the world, expanding the electric boating industry.

-What is your best boating memory?
I grew up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for 18 years, and their Sundays weren't for church but boating. Every weekend, I looked forward to sailing on my parent's boat down the magnificent Congo River, one of the ten largest in the world. And my best boating memory is when we would return to the harbor around 6 PM, feeling incredible freshness after a sunny day combined with the mindblowing colors of the central African sunset.

-What inspired you to join Magonis?
In the last century, the e-boating industry has advanced behind the electric automotive industry, so I realized Magonis was an exciting opportunity to bring more attention to design and details- offering an efficient, sustainable boat with luxury aesthetics and comfort.

-How would you describe yourself?
A keen observer with an inquisitive mind, particularly inspired by nature and design in the natural world.

-Why do you get out of bed in the morning?
Because life is unpredictable and possibilities are endless. Each day is a new opportunity to positively influence the world.

-What is your best boating memory?
Definitely the day I cruised around Venice on our beautiful Magonis in complete silence. That was such a magical experience!

(Top Left) GERMANY: Konigssee Lake- Holding the longest record on this list, Germany’s Konigssee Lake gained the title of “the cleanest lake in Germany” because, since 1909, only pedal, rowing, or electric boats have been allowed on its waters.

(Top Right) HUNGARY: Lake Balaton- With a ban on motor boats, the construction of charging systems for electric watercraft is underway, working to become a zero-emission region.

(Center) FRANCE: Lake Annecy- Starting in September 2022, "Compagnie de Navigation du Lac d'Annecy" is commissioned to convert 5 passenger boats from the 1960s to 100% electric, including two catamarans and three monohulls.

(Bottom Right) ITALY: Lake Como- The birthplace of Alessandro Volta, inventor of the electric battery, and proudly the first electric lake in Europe, Lake Como is equipped with over 15 charging stations for electric car and boat batteries.

(Bottom Left) SWITZERLAND: Lake Lugano- "Società di Navigazione del Lago di Lugano" launched Venti35 starting with the "Ceresio," a 90-year-old ship with a new, electric engine, and aims to make the entire Lugano fleet fully electric By 2035.

Sergi Surinyach Garcia, Shipyard Manager at Magonis

-What inspired you to join Magonis?
When I heard about Magonis, I knew it was a special opportunity to create a new way of enjoying the sea. Plus, I'd get to apply everything I learned from different shipyards, focusing on green energy and sustainability, to shape the future of boating.

-How would you describe yourself?
A happy and optimistic person, dedicated to my daily work and personal life. As a child, my parents taught me to appreciate everything that makes me feel happy, and the sea is something I’ve always held close to my heart.

-What are your passions?
As you can imagine, I'm very passionate about the ocean and everything surrounding it, so when I'm not at the shipyard, I'm out in nature or playing sports with friends.

-What is your best boating memory?
The adrenaline from my previous sailing competitions, happiness from cruising with my wife, and the incredible feeling of being in the middle of an open ocean- it just doesn't get better than that!

Marion Vitrat, CMO at Magonis

-What inspired you to join Magonis?
The excellent feeling I had with the team and the unique challenges and opportunities before me, which I could directly help solve by being an early adopter in a start-up genuinely focused on sustainability. With all the "greenwashing" going on, it was important for me to align with a company where sustainability truly mattered and fundamental differences were being made- which I'm now a part of every day at Magonis.

-How would you describe yourself?
A positive and spirited thinker who loves new opportunities, knowledge, and growth. I believe that time flies when you have fun, and life is meant to be enjoyed.

-Why do you get out of bed in the morning?
With Magonis, I wake up excited and ready to keep building the future of sustainable navigation. It's an incredible adventure and a very motivating project! But, let's be honest. My cheerful little son is the first thing that wakes me up, SO early!

-What is your best boating memory?
I used to dive and enjoyed the moment before diving when you're still on the boat with all the other divers. One of my most unforgettable memories was leaving Amed (Bali) at full speed, sitting on a beautiful deck surrounded by the people I love, and having this feeling of freedom at its best- anticipating the plunge to come.

Adrià Fradera, Production Director at Magonis

-What inspired you to join Magonis?
François first explained the idea to me, and after hearing his vision, sincerity, and enthusiasm for the project, I knew my next direction would be to join him and Mathieu to create a brand of electric boats. And the opportunity seemed to come at the perfect moment because, for years, I pondered the idea of electric propulsion and manufacturing electric boats. Now with Magonis, this dream is a reality and I get to apply my knowledge to help this revolution.

-How would you describe yourself?
Lucky, I turned what started as a hobby into my career and have a mindset of focusing on critical tasks first. I'd say I live by the Pareto Principle or 80-20 rule, which establishes that 20% of the effort devoted to a task generates 80% of the results.

-What gets you out of bed in the morning?
Two things lift me up, getting to "play" at work because I love what I do and aiming to be the best at my passions through concentrated effort and discipline.

-What is your best boating memory?
The best moment was with my family. My eldest son was four years old at the time, and we crossed between Formentera and Ibiza in a 23-foot boat. The seas were rough, and the boat was hopping over big waves, but my son slept through the whole thing as if nothing had happened. Kids!
