With a sad mood, we unfortunately need to face the situation and tell you that we’re unable to supply you currently with tyres. Due to production issues hitting us hard, the reality is just that the number of tyres available is very limited. Hopefully, we can sort these issues and come with happier news soon.

Good luck!

What does the sight of spring flowers tell to a rally fan? The gravel season is about to start!

The first gravel rally of the season 2022 was Rapla rally which with the changing weather and surprising corners offered a sight to see.

The fastest pair was Priit Koik / Kristo Tamm, who managed to attack from the beginning, stay on the road (or at least get back to it) and won their first overall win. A truly spectacular job! The second place went to G. Jeets / T. Taniel while third fastest was V. Jurkevicius / A. Paliukénas.

The fastest non-R5 pair was T. Kõrge / E. Pints on Yokohama, finishing 4th overall and losing 1:12.0 to the winners.

Saaremaa Rally 2021 was quite an eventful season finisher for Estonian Rally Championship with 82 finishers out of 128 entrants.

The rally started with four stages ran in the dark and mostly on tarmac. Tarmac tyres were not allowed. This proved to be a new challenge for many, including Georg Linnamäe / Volodymyr Korsia, who were outing their Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 first time on tarmac stages. To get the maximum result, the car was lowered and fitted with Yokohama A036 tyres which are designed for hard and compacted gravel or broken tarmac. This proved to be a good choice – Linnamäe/Korsia won the city stage and finished the section 3rd overall, losing 5.4 seconds to the leaders Gross/Mölder in their Fiesta WRC. Unfortunately, their rally ended prematurely after an accident.

The fastest pair in EMV5 (Group N) class was once again Timmu Kõrge / Erik Vaasa who finished the rally 6th overall. Winning all the stages (two with joint times), their pace was unmatched.

Timmu Kõrge / Erik Vaasa and their Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX dominate their class in Grossi Toidukaubad Viru Rally, the 4th round of Estonian Rally Championship. This was their first time driving with Yokohama tyres.

The pair won all of the stages in their class and ended up winning with over a minute. Even more impressive is the fact that they were occasionally faster than R5 and WRC cars, barely missing a stage win with 1.4 seconds.

The tyres lasted well. The roads in Viru are the toughest in Estonia, but there were no punctures. The 4th and 6th stage had tarmac sections where all the drivers said to have killed their tyres. In the service, it seemed that Yokohama A30s were the least worn, compared to Michelin PZ70 (soft) and Pirelli K6 (medium) under lighter R5 cars.

Travis Pastrana and Rhianon Gelsomino win North American Rally Championship with Yokohama!

This years North American Rally Championship is undoubtedly dominated by Travis Pastrana and Rhianon Gelsomino. The pair, driving a Subaru WRX STI, prepared by Subaru Motorsports USA / Vermont SportsCar, have won 4 out of 6 this years rounds. With two rounds still to go, the gap in points is too big for others to catch.

Although rallying isn’t maybe the most popular of sports in the United States, the competition is strong and the popularity grows very very quickly. Most of the honours for this go of course to Travis Pastrana and Ken Block, the names who every kid knows.

The cars in North American Rally Championship are no joke either. The series has drivers like Barry McKenna with a Fiesta WRC, David Higgins with a modified Fiesta S2000 Turbo and many latest R5 cars. While you can’t see Subarus driving here in the WRC category, the rules in United States are giving some more freedom. The Subaru which Pastrana used is built like a proper rally car, modified from the original chassis where needed. It’s not easy going against the WRC car.

The tyre choice in the series is free. You could pick everything, from Cooper to Michelin to Pirelli, whatever you’d like. That is where we can see which tyre really works, and which don’t.

How do you win with a Subaru against one of the best drivers in America with a WRC car with Michelin’s? With Yokohama of course..

Joosep Ausmees / Tauri Olesk and their BMW 320 have won the first stage in rallying! The pair wished to try something affordable, but competitive. They picked Yokohama’s A053 tyres with A30 compound and this proved to be a perfect choice – Joosep and Tauri won their first stage in Kihelkonna rally. Altogether, the pair won two stages and finished 4th in class.
