Since our 62 years old "patient" doesn't exactly boast an abundance of space either under the hood or in the cabin, i had to take a creative approach to this project in order to fit all the new technology.

The battery pack for this specific car was placed diagonally under the hood.
Why is that? Since the battery pack wouldn't fit under the hood straight or crosswise, the best option to maintain an even weight distribution was to design it to sit diagonally. The advantage of this in very tight spaces is that this layout creates two free areas to fit the controller, battery charger, DC/DC converter, A/C compressor, and A/C condenser, in addition to the battery pack and motor.
Oh, did I forget to mention that this 1964 Taunus will also be getting air conditioning alongside the cabin heater?
Yes, it's true—all to ensure this classic makes for an ideal and comfortable city car, offering a level of comfort that meets modern standards.

Achieving the best and highest-quality result comes down to the finest details. In our classic car electrification projects, we focus specifically on detail and quality to preserve as many original and authentic parts of the car as possible, avoiding the removal or excessive modification of body structures. This is also why we keep the original gearbox, chassis, and drivetrain components during the conversion—ensuring the car keeps its authentic feel and driving characteristics. Additionally, we use existing openings and structures in the body to mount new components; for instance, this allows the Type 2 charging port to take its place directly inside the original fuel filler opening.

The Taunus project is coming along. New paint is on, and the seats are currently being restored to their original condition. We’re working on reassembly, but the engine is due to be pulled soon. Big updates regarding the direction of NVG Classics are coming your way. Stay tuned!

It was quite fun to drive this Taunus for about a kilometer, but that short test drive confirmed that every detail of this car needs renewal in order for it to show its full potential and become a reliable companion for longer journeys. That’s right — the Taunus’ road to a new life began today.

The initial disassembly provided quite a good overview of the car’s overall condition and the amount of work that lies ahead. The body is very solid, but the floor under the driver’s and passenger’s feet needs a fair bit of attention and welding and of course, a complete repaint of the entire car.

V8 testfit vol2. This time with geargox and an oilpan that needed to be shortened 3,5cm. It's almost fitting perfectly, but gear linkage needs some minor modifications. Think it's time for engine mount fabrication!
