This weekend we travelled to Lithuania for a round of the BaTCC championship, where the Historic Formula cars had also been invited to compete.
Our trip began on Thursday with our new service truck, which, true to form, decided to test our patience with a few unexpected issues along the way. Thankfully, it got us to the circuit in one piece.
Friday’s practice was all about learning the track and building confidence. We would have liked a bit more time on track, but we made the most of what we had. Heading into qualifying on cold tyres and with a little uncertainty, things didn’t quite go to plan, resulting in a spin and a rather big scare.
Our teammate Max's weekend was even shorter. After just 500 metres on track, the flywheel decided to leave the chat. That’s racing sometimes—frustrating, but all part of the sport.
A big thank you to Taavi Kroon for stepping in to replace Simmo this weekend and taking on the important job of keeping everything running smoothly in the paddock.
We’d also like to thank Lena and Hendrik for flying out to Kaunas to support us throughout the weekend. Your encouragement and help meant a great deal to the whole team.
Sadly, that was the end of our weekend.
On Saturday morning, before the Formula races began, a tragic accident occurred in which a spectator sadly lost their life and another person was injured. Following the incident, the remainder of the event was cancelled.
Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and friends of the spectator who lost their life. We also wish the injured person a full and speedy recovery.
