Agile Cup Round 3 – Founder’s thoughts
After a decade of designing, testing and road approving as well as trackday driving, we decided last year that it is time for Agile Automotive to enter the world of motor racing.
Instead of doing short sprint races we jumped directly into endurance racing with two test runs last year with a single car in a 6-hours series called MSLS in Sweden – that worked really well as we finished both races and ended second in our class in second race.
Just to put the endurance stress into perspective one 6 hours endurance race + 1 hour qualification equals more than half the 2026 season or three race weekends divided over 6 days in the Danish top class called SuperGT and in one weekend they race 3x15 minutes the rest is practice and qualification with time to fix the car in between every session. We do 7 hours 6 times a year.
This year we have created our own Agile Cup class in the MSLS series, so we are in true Le Mans spirit racing against different cars in different categories. This means there is a lot of overtaking and watching the mirrors, but also a lot of respect between the drivers as the “to finish first you first have to finish” saying in general is in play here.
We have chosen this path to grow and mature as a company, to prove the cars are fast and reliable, and to show that is doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg to go racing – when doing endurance racing there are several drivers to share the costs, the ups and downs, the victories and the memories. This is an important part of our Agile community to be and is building on top of our existing Agile gatherings and trackdays.
When we designed the Agile SCX it was extremely important to us to make the car service friendly, easy and low cost to maintain – this we have succeeded with as all we do after 7 hours of racing is change the oil and filter, brake pads and if necessary the rotors and finally a new set of tires after 1 to 2 races, all parts are easy accessible and low cost, you can it all yourself if you like.
So, to round it up round 3 of Agile Cup was a great success, it was very warm, we got a shower after an hour, it dried up and all Agile SCX cars raced to the checkered flag – We won overall by 5 laps to number two, 213 laps or more than 650km in total. Fantastic day and we can’t wait for the next race 1st of August at Gelleråsen Arena.
Final fun fact: It is possible to go racing in an Agile SCX with our Arrive & Drive concept and you don’t even need a racing license to do so in the first place, as you can purchase a guest license after passing a theoretical and practical test before the race.
