THE WEEKEND AT IMOLA TURNED OUT TO BE ANYTHING BUT ORDINARY…😵💫
During Race 1 of the second round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe at Imola, our red Lamborghini #67 was involved in a major accident.
With approximately seven minutes remaining in the opening race, a competitor spun and ended up facing the wrong direction directly in the path of the pursuing pack of 31 Lamborghinis.😥
Our #67 had no chance of avoiding the incident, resulting in a massive head-on collision and severe damage. Our green car #69 was also caught up in the same situation but fortunately did not sustain major damage.
Most importantly, all drivers walked away uninjured! 🙏🏼
Unfortunately, car #67 sustained extensive damage to the front end, the front suspension, and the front right chassis. The damage was so severe that, on Monday morning, the car was placed in the care of the specialists at Imperiale Sport Car Service in Italy, as this is the only workshop equipped with the correct chassis bench for Trofeo cars. Impressively, we managed to bring the car back to Denmark later the same day.
Due to the extent of the damage to the red Lamborghini, it quickly became clear that there was absolutely no chance of having the car ready for Race 2, which was scheduled to start just four hours later.
But our dedicated team refused to give up, and in record time, our pink reserve Lamborghini was unloaded from our truck.💖
Immediately, the entire DC crew went into full focus.
Series logos were applied, number #67 was mounted on the car, and the entire setup was adjusted under immense time pressure.
At the same time, the team had to apply for special permission from the race stewards to enter a completely new replacement car. Fortunately, approval came roughly one hour after the accident, allowing the pink bull to line up on the grid at Imola for Race 2.
This was a weekend that tested every part of the team. We saw motorsport in its most brutal and hectic form. But it also showed exactly what defines us: resilience, determination, and a refusal to back down when everything is on the line. 🫡
