Well as some of you may know and some of you may not I only managed to complete 1 round of racing last year! Not ideal but a posting to Germany put a bit of a spanner in the works, hey ho, I'll just have to have a weisen beer to celebrate!

Since I've been here, I've been doing a lot of research about racing and if it was at all possible, well I'm glad to say it is and I will be racing in the German Moto Masters competing in the 1000cc class having had my confirmation through yesterday! 🤪

I've entered into 4 out of the 5 rounds (unfortunately round 5 clashes with work) and will be racing at famous venues like Brno and Slovakia ring, genuinely can't wait!

So as most of you know I had to pull out (that's what she said 🤣) of racing this year due to a posting abroad..... But....

In true racer fashion I managed to adopt a bunch of loons in Team Rodeo Racing and went along to help them out (at Silverstone) in their first misadventure into financial instability & racing! This in turn led to a 3 day binge of feeling sorry for myself because I wasn't riding so I stupidly booked on for the next race!

Now booking on is easy when you've done a couple of seasons but my issues were plentiful (getting them in early 👀);

1 a new (to me) bike that I had only ridden before on one occasion in the wet, 2 a bike that is the first ever 1000cc bike I'll get to ride in anger, 3 a bike I'd had massive issues just to get it to the grid, 4 a bike that had never been set up for me....

This thing (her name is Rico I need to be nice to her) is on another level compared to anything I had ridden before and I daftly signed up for the next class up in racing after upgrading my lisence.... So I spent today learning that I still don't like wheelies even though my bike throughly loves them, race shift isn't as easy to learn as people say it is and the bike I stripped apart and built back together can be bloody scary if you don't treat it with a bit of respect!

Race day tomorrow and Sun and I'll let you know how I get on, time to put the big boy pants on! 😬

I've been a bit quiet on the racing side of life recently so thought I would let everyone know what's been going on..... This might be a fairly long post.... 🤦‍♂️

So Frankie the 600 has gone and Ricco the RSV4 has taken her place ready for the coming season.... But...

After finding a partially failed cam chain in October and a lot of shims well out of spec I decided to take the heads off the bike and while they were off take them to HM Racing to have them ported to hopefully improve the slight lack of power in regards to the competition I'll be facing.

It did not go well, we found that every intake valve was stretched and the tops were mushroomed this means they had to be replaced! Their titanium and for all 8 I was looking at 1800 notes... 🤢🤮

Needs must, no stock in the UK so they had to be shipped from Italy, what we didn't know at the time was piaggio group have updated their software and nothing has shipped out of Italy for 6 months! Ordered in Nov and I find out last week that the lies we were told about them being sent/in the post/lead times etc were bulls**t! So I messaged the planet in the form of facey and a legend of an aussie is shipping 8 new valves to me and they should be here on Tuesday if all goes well...

That will give me exactly 16 days to put the bike back together, get it dyno'd and get some testing in prior to race 1, not ideal on a bike I've only every ridden once on a wet trackday!

So that's problem 1....problem 2 is thus and a double edged sword!

I've been promoted at work! 🥳🥳 I might get posted to Germany.... I can't race from Germany.... I'll hopefully find out next week provisionally where I'm going but if I'm going to Germany I won't be racing this season as I don't think it's fair to do a couple of races and then bu**er off.... So possible club 1k spot up for sale 2 weeks prior to racing.... 😢

To all my sponsors and those that followed me thanks for your support last season and the reason I haven't been in touch prior to this season is I wouldnt ask for support if I can't back myself in getting the bike and myself to the grid in the first place... Ducati update..... It runs but its being a dick! 🤷‍♂️ Tomorrow is another day, gonna have to get the carb sync out and have a poke around.

So the CBR came to me because it initially wouldn't start... Finally got her running but it was rough and one of the jobs I was asked to do was a valve clearance check!

I measured these twice not believing they could be this far out of spec! It now starts on the button with no issues, guys if in doubt get them checked it might just save your engine!

Quick little update on the Ducati..... Mechanically she's just about back together! Things I need to do;
Bit of painting (tank & mudguard)
Run fuel lines and air lines from carbs
Find some handlebars I like
Run cables and attach brake & clutch lines.

And the big one... Electrics... Its a 90's ducati, this one might take some time, but it now has a electric fuel pump! 😁 Little wins and all that! 🤣

Forks on the CBR600RR nicely renewed and looking fresh... The oil that came out of them... 🤮🤮🤮

That's the calipers on the CBR600RR all done and dusted, came up nice in the end to say their not getting dipped and painted!

Costomers bike he just bought to do up.... Not the worst I've seen.... Not the best either sports bikes don't like the winter if their not cleaned! Looking at the radiator that's mostly salt! 😳

Some more work on the ducati today.... I've seen some pretty bad calipers but these! 🤮
