Wir Jungs haben unseren Beruf als direkte Fortsetzung unserer Kindheit weiter gelebt – „wir leiben Autos und spielen damit“. Natürlich ist auch ein Neu- oder Jahreswagen gut in der Werkstatt aufgehoben und wird genau so wertgeschätzt, wie ihre Spezialisierung. Veni, vidi, vici !

On this day 53 years ago Porsche dominated the Targa Florio with their 908s finishing 1-2-3-4.
The 908 was the first car by Porsche that was maxed out to the allowed displacement of 3 liters in its class.
The lightweight car with a flat 8 engine was extremely successful, the 1000km at the Nürburgring was won 1-2-3-4-5 and the championship was won early that year.
Sometimes the 908 is forgotten because of the monstrous 917 like the one in our clip, but it was actually the car that started the long the era of Porsche dominating in the sportscar world.

On this day 102 years ago the first Roots supercharger was built by Karl Schopper

Exactly 50 years later Henry Ford introduced the Ford Falcon, dubbed „the small car with the big car feel“

Another 10 years later Ford President Semon Knudsen was fired

And finally on this exact day 27 years ago the National Corvette Museum was opened in Boeling Green, Kentucky with 4000 Corvettes attending the opening!

Few pics from the Rømø Motorfestival 2021!

Was great to see some normality returning and good fun to watch some classic speedfreaks!

Speaking of speedfreaks, on this day 47 years the fastest of the fastest set a new record and made the world a little bit smaller.

On September 1st 1974 Major James Sullivan and Major Noel Widdifiel boarded their SR-71 Blackbird at Beale Airbase to set a record for the fastest flight time between New York and London.
They passed the starting line in New York at over 2000 mph and arrived 1h 54min 56secs later in London, that includes refueling mid-air. They averaged a speed of 1807mph because they had to slow down for the refueling process.
The same blackbird set a record for the distance from London to Los Angeles at 3h 47min 35secs only averaging 1435mph again due to refueling and this time to speed limits as well. They had to severely slow down over major cities, nonetheless broken windows were reported at several location on their flight path.

The SR-71 also holds the record for the absolute speed record at 2193 mph and highest altitude of 25929 meters, almost reaching space!

What an impressive piece of machinery!

Flat out into the Weekend!
Wait for the sound!

This is a Special as it marks the 38th anniversary of possibly the most impressive piece of driving ever.
Stefan Bellof was born into a family of petrol heads. He started cart racing with his older brother at the age of 14 and won the german cart championship in 1980. In 1981 he drove in the Formel Ford and impressed everyone with his speed. He got increasingly better driving gigs over Next years and kept impressing drivers and fans with his Speed and bravery. In 1983 he drove for Porsche at the 24h of the Nürburgring. His Porsche 956 went well on the twisted Nordschleife, so well that Bellof kept posting times better than anyone else. On May 28th 1983 the last training before the race took place, cold but dry day, a combination that promises good lap times but what happened that day was not expected by anyone. Bellof went out for a hot lap and when his tires were warm he went for it!
6 : 11,13 minutes later he crossed the finishing line, 5 seconds faster than the next best driver and over 30 seconds faster than the then ruling f1 world champion Keke Rosberg.
That lap time wasn’t broken for 35 years! In 2018 Porsche brought a very special 919 to the track. As a send off for the triple Le Mans winning 919 Porsche heavily modified the 919 increasing system power to over 1000hp. With that very special car the record by Bellof was finally beaten. However Bellof will forever be remembered at the Nurburgring, a part of the track named after him.
Stefan Bellof died 1985 in a tragic accident. During the 1000km of Spa Bellof tried to overtake Jacky Icky in the dangerous Eau Rouge - a Part of the Track deemed too dangerous for overtaking by many.
By many fellow drivers Bellof was considered the fastest driver of his generation. Racing legend Jackie Stewart said Bellof was the greatest talent he had ever seen.

The face of a movie star!

In fact it is the face of the second most popular car in movie and tv history only being beaten by another car made my Ford - the Crown Victoria. The Crown Victoria has some unfair advantages though: 1. the Internet Movie car database counts all models under the moniker Crown Victoria, a Name which has been used by Ford for several different cars since the 50s thusly predating the Mustang
2. More importantly: Ford developed the Crown Victoria Interceptor which was a special version for security services (police,fbi, etc.) This car quickly became the most popular car for such services and is because of that heavily featured in movies.

Why are we talking about movie cars today?

Today 127 years ago on April the 14th 1894 was the first public showing of the kinetoscope and with that cinema was born. The device was developed by William Dickson who was Thomas Edison’s chief engineer at the time and is one of many inventions from Edison’s research facility that had major impact on modern society.

Coincidentally today only 21 years ago was the day Metallica filed a lawsuit against the music and Movie sharing service Napster. In the end Napster lost the case and with that the wild early days of the Internet where intellectual property was a mere footnote were over.

Speaking of beauties...A hundred years ago in 1921 little sixteen year old Margaret Gorman went on to become the youngest, smallest and only Miss America from Washington DC, but foremost she will be eternally know for being the first Miss America ever!

Winnie the Pooh knows what’s up!

Contrary to popular belief and although today a Disney franchise the lovable bear was not born American.
Pooh was developed by the English writer A. A. Milne in the mid 1920s. Inspired by his sons pet bear Milne created Winnie the Pooh and his friends. combined with the illustrations of E.H.Shepard the Book went on to sale in 1926, by the early 1930s Winnie was known around world.
Walt Disney Company bought the rights in 1961 and adapted the books into cartoons and gave the characters the looks we love today.

We actually do some work between snacks and posting on Instagram😁

This Ford was just recently finished and is back with its happy owner now.
We replaced the original transmission with a selected BorgWarner T5 and added a twin flow exhaust.
Actually hard to believe how much of a hassle it was finding that transmission and getting it to Germany, but considering the smile on the customers face it was well worth the effort!

Flatout into the Weekend!

The Ford Galaxie 500 lightweight were made for full throttle acceleration, and this one is just a little different...the original already beefy engine now has around 540 cui of displacement, turns rubber into smoke with ease and announces your arrival well before you are in sight!

Another pic of the dynamic duo!

Loads of their dynamic comes from the turbo charged V8 engines in the front. Though Porsche is best known for their 6 cylinder boxer engines they already ventured into V8 territory decades ago. 1977 Porsche introduced their first V8 for street cars. This engine was constructed of light metal and was watercooled - something that couldn’t be found in the 911 for a long time. With an eye on the us market their first iteration of the 4,5 liter engine was explicitly constructed to work well with low octane gas in mind and produced 240 DIN-hp.
That engine was put in the 928.

25 years later the displacement was still 4,5 liters but power went to 340 DIN-hp - a much more powerful turbo version was also available.
These engines are now powering the Cayenne and Panamera line.
But Porsche didn’t stop at those more comfy models.
A completely new developed V8 went into the 918 hybrid hypercar setting a remarkable record for being the naturally aspirated with the highest hp per liter figure ever - 918s engine produces a staggering 132hp per liter of displacement!

Continuing the trend of nudes for

This pic shows the iconic Chevy Smallblock. An engine Series that was designed by engineer Ed Cole and became the probably best known engine of the world - do you know anyone who hasn’t heard of the 350cui smallblock? We don’t!

It was built in many iterations from 1955 onward until 2003. its estimated that, including all variations around 80 million of those engines were build. Even today a small subsidiary of GM keeps producing these keeping the spirit alive - true icons never die!

The dynamic duo in action again!

Though many Porsche enthusiasts were shocked when the company announced the Cayenne, nobody can deny its success. 2013, a Little over 10 years after its introduction Porsche sold its 500000th Cayenne - to put that into perspective: 2018 Porsche reached the landmark of 1 million 911s sold but took more than 50s years to do so!
