At Monterey Car Week 2026, the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe CSX2300 sold for $42.905 million including buyer’s premium. Ferrari 250 P chassis 0810 reached $18.705 million.

But a headline price never tells the whole story.

The Shelby’s calculated hammer price was $39 million. The Ferrari result sat within its published estimate, while Gooding Christie’s disclosed a minimum-price guarantee and a direct financial interest in the lot.

For collectors, four questions matter:
