In France, 11 people were arrested who stole goods from trucks. French gendarmerie detains 11 people suspected of theft of goods. A Belarusian truck driver engaged in the international carriage of goods presented a one-off permit to the inspectors of Podlaskie Road Transport Inspection (ITD), which showed traces of the pre-entered travel date. Today we learned about this from the press service of the General Inspection of Road Transport of the Republic of Poland (GITD). On January 25, ITD officers stopped a truck belonging to a Belarusian transport company that was transporting goods from Russia to Portugal for a routine check on the national highway No. 8 in the village of Budzisko (Podlaskie Voivodeship). Among other documents, the driver presented a permit authorizing him to travel on field roads. Despite the fact that the permit is one-off, it has been traced to the deletion of the date of the previous transport, on top of which is written a new one. Under Polish law, falsification or alteration of documents is a crime which imposes a fine and imprisonment for a period of 3 months to 5 years. That's why ITD officers handed over the driver to the police investigating the case. The truck was sent to a secure parking lot until the transport company paid a fine of PLN 12,000 (approximately EUR 2,8 thousand) and received a new international transport permit.

In connection with the increase of transport companies from the country, Lithuania introduces a special "resettlement tax" for companies that have decided to transfer their business to other EU countries, especially in Poland. The so-called mobility package, which was adopted in the EU, has provoked outrage for carriers from the Baltic countries and Eastern Europe and has also provoked the outflow of Lithuanian road transport companies from the country. According to them, the mobility package contains conditions that are not favorable for transport companies - a ban on resting the driver in the cab of the truck, limitation of the ability to provide cabotage services and most importantly - the need to return trucks to the country of registration. In order to maintain competitiveness in the European Union, transport companies have to open branches in other countries in order not to return the trucks to the country of registration. Among other things, Lithuania decided last year to increase taxes on daily payments to truck drivers. The transport companies found this step unprofitable and started moving their business to Poland. To limit the outflow of freight carriers from the country, the Lithuanian Seimas adopted a new tax law, the so-called "resettlement tax". Under this 2020 law, companies moving their businesses to other countries will be considered for sale, and their value will be taxed on the sale of property. According to the secretary general of the Lithuanian Association of Linava Forwarders, Mechislavas Atroškevicius, the relocation will be done in other ways. The new cars will be registered abroad and not transferred from Lithuania, therefore the country tax will not apply to them. New jobs are being created outside Lithuania.
