VESPA PX 125 E ARCOBALENO
Introduced in the early 1980s, the Vespa PX 125 E Arcobaleno became one of the most recognisable evolutions of the legendary Vespa PX, first introduced in 1977. Produced mainly between 1983 and the early 1990s, the Arcobaleno — known in some markets as the Lusso — brought a range of practical improvements while preserving the timeless design that made the PX an Italian icon.
Powered by a 123.4 cc, air-cooled, two-stroke, single-cylinder engine producing approximately 8 horsepower, it featured a four-speed manual gearbox operated by the classic handlebar twist grip and could reach a top speed of around 55–60 mph (86–95 km/h), depending on the version. Its steel monocoque body, 10-inch wheels and traditional drum brakes stayed true to the original Vespa philosophy: simple, durable and built for everyday life.
The Arcobaleno introduced several useful upgrades, including a fuel gauge, improved front braking components, a more powerful headlight, revised electrical wiring, a larger glovebox and a more comfortable seat. Separate two-stroke oil lubrication made everyday use more convenient, while the Elestart version, available from the mid-1980s, added an electric starter.
More than just a scooter, the PX 125 E Arcobaleno represents an era when Italian design, freedom and individuality came together on two wheels. A timeless classic that proves true style never fades.
Some things were simply made to last.
