Did you know that TMD Friction, which manufactures Pagid, is saving energy with its brake pad curing ovens?

At its production facility in Hangzhou, China, TMD Friction has found a way to reduce energy consumption, lower emissions, and improve the working environment.

Analysis of the brake pad curing ovens identified that the surface temperature of one oven was exceeding that of all the rest. To reduce wasted heat, TMD Friction upgraded the heating cell cover of the affected oven. This improved heat management between the heating and cooling cells, and - as an added bonus - even reduced the ambient temperature for the workforce.

A small change can make a big difference!

Don’t make this mistake the next time you do a brake replacement: Using the wrong tools.
Using the right tools for the job can speed up brake replacement and help keep you safe!

One tool often ignored is the pneumatic brake windback tool. This is used to push back the piston during the brake replacement process.

While it may be tempting to use water-pump pliers instead – don’t! This may cockle and damage the seals.
The pneumatic windback tool allows the piston to move back in a central and straight position – without damaging the seals.

Don’t make this mistake the next time you do a brake replacement: Installing directional pads in the wrong direction.
Each brake pad is developed to match the vehicle’s individual braking system. This means that not all brake pads are the same - some may require a slightly different approach when fitting.

➡️ A directional brake pad will have arrows on the shim or piston clip indicating the direction of rotation
➡️ Always install directional brake pads in the direction of rotation – that is, with the arrows pointing towards the front of the vehicle
➡️ Directional pads ensure braking force is applied evenly across the disc
Incorrect installation can result in uneven wear on the pad and disc, leading to reduced performance, noise, and possibly even brake failure. 😮

Don’t make this mistake the next time you do a brake replacement: Not using every part.
The golden rule: If it’s in the box, then use it. Don’t skip on installing a part just because you don’t know what it’s for.
One of the most common culprits is shims – thin pieces of metal or rubber which are placed between the brake pads and the calliper. Shims are designed to absorb vibrations and reduce noise when braking. In addition, they can also be important when installing directional brake pads to ensure the brake pads are correctly aligned.
Shims may be fixed to the brake pad, or they may require clipping onto the backplate before fitment.
