Phase one of my project has come to an end after 9 years and almost 270.000km on my prototype 5” bolt-on portals.

Phase 2 has now begun at the , where the LR130CC-R(hino) is fully stripped, cleaned and rebuild to my original specifications.

Honestly, there are a few tears welling up, but I am happy and exited that my friend Marc Burauen is taking care of this project and helping me complete it after all those years 👍🏻

The frame will go to scanning soon and then will be rebuild with an innovative new engine and drive system installed later this year, which I just had the honour of presenting in the US....

This will be awesome 😍

A quick question to all of you out there who have followed my project over the past years and who are now following the rebuild of the LR130CC-R(hino):

What would you like to see on this prototype vehicle or what would you be interested in being prototype and tested on Project Rhino Evo 2, that would be awesome as a new product in the future?

I am curious about your ideas, so give it a thought and hit your keyboard 😏😊

The first 9 years (2009-2018)

As this project of mine now enters a new phase and thanx to my new partner in Rallyewerk Automotive we are taking the effort to finish this project to my original plans, which sofar time and funding have prevented.

So, I’d like to hereby again thank everyone who’s supported and sponsored this dream of mine over the past 9 years.

Project Rhino - The LR130CC-R(hino)
That’s it! After 9 years on the road, 269.439km on my prototype 5” bolt-on portals (original TD4 engine), and many great adventures it’s now time to fully strip and rebuild the Rhino and then completly finish this project, including the change of engine and drive.

I made it last night, after hilarious snowstorms and iced motorways..
Dropping of the LR130CC-R(hino) in an hour and then it ends until it’s fully rebuild in about 3 months

Project Rhino (update)
I am about to take my LR130CC-R(hino), after 268.747km of adventures, on it‘s last 500mile journey today.
But no worries, it‘s not the end but a new beginning, as I‘ve decided to have a frame-off restauration done after which it will be completed according to my original drawings and specification that I made in 2007/08 before starting this project in early 2009.

Just a quick question, out of curiosity.

I know a lot of people on this planet like my LR130CC-R(hino), but what would you say, if it was available (as it is today with all current modifications and those still to come in the next 3 months) as a brand new build vehicle?

Interesting? Or not?

Update: Your reactions sofar a pretty awesome and I'll proceed further accordingly.
I'll also prepare a little overview of the products and specs as we move on, as there would be a few options regarding axles and engines, too.

About 7 years ago I started thinking about designing a whole new offroad vehicle and based the design on a vehicle I really like, the Defender 130CC.
The biggest unknown was if my idea of bolt-on portals would work out and thus a lot of time and money went into that part of the project and having my prototypes build by Tibus Engineering.
From there It commenced with testing and further development of parts which will eventually lead to the new vehicle.
My Land Rover 130CC-R(hino) will continue it´s job as demonstrator and expedition vehicle and of course to trailer the new vehicle later 2015 ;-)
