The Exhaust!
Welcome back to the "Turbo ABC" - Today its all about the exhaust.
The turbocharger requires an exhaust system with as little resistance as possible downstream of the turbine wheel in order to generate a large pressure drop for quick response and to minimize thermal stress. A free-flowing exhaust system particularly one featuring an optimized downpipe and high-flow components- reduces backpressure, boosts performance, and protects the engine and turbocharger from overheating.

The Middle Section!
Welcome back to the "Turbo ABC" - Today its all about the middle section.
The middle section of a turbocharger is called the Center Housing Rotating Assembly (CHRA), or often simply the "core" or "cartridge".
It acts as the heart of the turbocharger, connecting the hot turbine side (exhaust) to the cold compressor side (intake).
Key Components of the CHRA are the shaft, the bearings, the center Housing and the seal.

Basic functions of the middle section are:

Rotational Support: Allows the turbo shaft to spin at speeds often exceeding 200,000 RPM.
Lubrication: Channels pressurized oil from the engine to lubricate the bearings and prevent wear.
Heat Management: Protects the internal components from the high heat of the exhaust side.

The TTE540 Turbos for the AMG 3.0 V6 M276 motor.

Still keeping the original turbocharger the compressor wheel is exchanged for a TTE milled aluminum wheel with state-of-the-art geometry, 7+7 blade so producing extra power, we also CNC machine the OEM turbo inlets to make a perfect transition to the bigger compressor for max efficiency. Equally, we change the original exhaust turbine for a far larger TTE designed turbine for lower exhaust gas backpressure giving greater performance, yet still giving a fantastic response, with customers saying feels like original with just more power!

We also fitted a TTE motorsport upgrade bearing system for durability.

Balancing!
Welcome back to the "Turbo ABC" - Today its all about balancing.
Balancing in a turbocharger is the process of removing or adding mass to the rotating assembly—the shaft, turbine wheel, and compressor wheel—to ensure its center of mass aligns perfectly with its rotational axis, minimizing vibration at extremely high speeds:

Static Balancing: Focuses on balancing the component while stationary or at low speeds to ensure the center of gravity aligns with the axis of rotation, usually correcting for "heavy spots".

Dynamic Balancing: Balances the entire assembly while it is rotating at or near operating speeds, correcting for forces and "couples" (imbalances in different planes) that only become apparent when in motion.

VTG!
Welcome back to the "Turbo ABC" - Today its all about VTG.
VTG stands for Variable Turbine Geometry (also known as Variable Geometry Turbocharger or VGT). It is an advanced type of turbocharger that uses adjustable vanes within the turbine housing to control exhaust gas flow. This technology enhances performance and engine efficiency by allowing the turbo to behave as both a small turbo (for fast response) and a large turbo (for high power). At low speeds, the vanes close to increase exhaust pressure and velocity, accelerating the turbine quickly and eliminating "turbo lag". At high speeds, the vanes open up to accommodate higher exhaust flow, preventing excessive boost pressure and preventing engine restriction (choking).

Welcome to our TTE400 Upgrade hybrid turbocharger for the Porsche 964. Our aim with the TTE400 stage was to bring the 964 into the 21 century using the very latest TTE turbocharger technology compressor.

We replace the 50-year-old G series compressors technology for larger sized TTE billet compressors with the very latest geometry, so giving more air-mass over a wider area.

Precisely balancing our turbochargers is a key critical factor to become a TTE upgrade unit as longevity and performance are paramount. Good balance improves acoustics also. Subsequent great care is taken with all TTE turbochargers to achieving our balance standards. Firstly parts are balanced at slow speeds up to 2800RPM in multiple planes using our single parts machine, then components are assembled and then the CHRA are dynamically balanced, but this time depending on the application at up to 250,000 RPM in multiple planes using our in house VSR machine to acquire the ultimate equilibrium, to a standard far higher than OEM. Each turbocharger is supplied with a serial numbered balance test result document.

The Turbine Wheel!
Welcome back to the "Turbo ABC" - Today its all about the turbine wheel.
A turbocharger turbine wheel is a high-speed, heat-resistant wheel located in the exhaust housing that converts exhaust gas energy into rotational power. It drives the compressor wheel via a shared shaft, boosting engine power by forcing more air into the cylinders. It is key to increasing engine efficiency.

The Compressor Wheel!

Welcome back to the "Turbo ABC" - Today its all about the compressor wheel.
A compressor wheel is a specialized centrifugal impeller located on the "cold side" (intake) of a turbocharger, designed to suck in ambient air, compress it, and force it into the engine's combustion chamber. It is connected to the turbine wheel by a common shaft and spins at extremely high speeds—often up to 200,000 RPM—to increase air pressure and density, which enables the engine to generate more power.

The TTE600 RACE Is based on the original RS3 8V.2/TTRS 8S EA855 EVO turbocharger DAZA / DNWA modified to work on the older generation CZGB / CEPA, CEPB engines.

The compressor wheel is exchanged for a milled aluminum wheel with state-of-the-art geometry, 7+7 blade so producing extra power. Equally, we change the original exhaust turbine for a far larger but very lightweight 9 blade TTE designed turbine, for lower exhaust gas backpressure, giving greater performance. We also fitted a proven TTE motorsport upgrade bearing system for durability.

Boost response was focused on when we were designing this unit and it does not disappoint.

The ultimate upgrade for the pocket rocket from Japan! 🚀
The TTE570 G16E-GTS upgrade turbocharger for GR Yaris and GR Corolla.

To construct a TTE570 G16E-GTS we change the original cast compressor wheel and employ a far larger and more efficient billet wheel and mill the compressor cover to an optimum gap to match the new compressor profile. We replace the original exhaust turbine wheel and CNC mill the turbine housing to install a larger lightweight 9 BLADE TTE exhaust turbine. We also replace the original bearingsystem for a TTE upgrade that is made in-house.
The TTE 9 blade exhaust turbine designed by TheTurboEngineers. Advantages are larger diameter and less blades for greater gas flow, reducing back pressure and lowering exhaust gas temperatures, allowing safer higher boost levels. This turbine is extremely light in mass so giving a reduced moment of inertia, meaning fast spool up for the power potential of approx. 500+HP on 98octane.
