Plant Life: The Nature of Design at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne National Gallery of Victoria looks at plants as some of our oldest and potentially most important material collaborators. The exhibition moves between ancestral craft, industrialisation and contemporary material research, asking what a more regenerative material future could look like.

We’re part of the opening section with Sensbiom 2.1 -a modular installation made from our plant-based biopolymer, developed to respond to its environment. Its web-like structures respond to UV radiation by changing colour, turning an invisible environmental condition into something visible and making the material itself part of the interaction.

Bringing together more than 60 works across design, architecture, craft and art, Plant Life looks at how plant-based materials can offer alternatives to non-renewable resources while reconnecting contemporary design with much older ways of working with the natural world.

On view at NGV Melbourne until 7 February 2027.

Growing in the city takes many forms.

Our installation at the VIENNA DESIGN WEEK Headquarters explores the meeting point between bio-based materials, plants and urban space.

As part of GROW AND GATHER installation, we gathered around the table for a brunch hosted by Alice Stori Liechtenstein .

Some of the herbs and vegetables grown in the BioColumns made their way into the meal, prepared by our guest chef turning the growing system into a shared meal and a moment of gathering.

How can bio-based materials become part of the infrastructure that supports urban food growing?

With GROW AND GATHER, we explore this question through an installation that brings soil-free herb and vegetable cultivation into everyday urban life.

Hosted by Alice Stori Liechtenstein (Schloss Hollenegg for Design), the installation integrates edible herbs and vegetables into a modular growing system, cultivated entirely without soil. The project culminates in a performative brunch, where the harvest is prepared by a guest chef and shared around the table.

Biocolumns installation at VIENNA DESIGN WEEK

At VIENNA DESIGN WEEK , we’re presenting a further iteration of our modular growing structures - exploring the relationship between bio-based materials, hydroponic cultivation and the infrastructures that support everyday life.

Developed through continued research and prototyping, the installation brings together sculptural forms and edible plants, creating a space for growing, harvesting and sharing food.

Today, currents.berlin opens its first edition, bringing together designers, studios, galleries, brands and institutions across the city.

We’re bringing our BioColumns to Jalousiefabrik, showcasing the latest stage of the project.

This prototype is part of our ongoing research into modular structures, hydroponic growing and responsive bioplastics, and we’re excited to share it in Berlin alongside some of our recent work.

Reimagining production leftovers into new surfaces.
The terrazzo tabletops developed for PERK incorporate shredded Nuatan® production offcuts and surplus material generated during the 3D printing process.
These material fragments are transformed into a new composite surface, creating a distinctive terrazzo-like appearance while extending the use of Nuatan® beyond its original application.
The project explores new approaches to material reuse, showing how production remnants can become functional and visually unique elements within interior design.

Another interior brought to life with Nuatan® - this time for PERK .

The space features several applications of our 100% biobased and biodegradable material, demonstrating how bioplastics can become an integral part of contemporary interiors.

Backlit panels made from heat-pressed Nuatan® sheets create a soft, ambient atmosphere, while custom 3D-printed grids add texture and functional detailing throughout the space.
By combining digital manufacturing with bio-based materials, the project explores new possibilities for sustainable interior design, where material innovation and architectural expression come together.
