Remembering Dimi Mavropoulos ❤️
We were deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of Dimi Mavropoulos, founder of the Cyprus Historic & Classic Motor Museum in Limassol.
Dimi lost his life on Saturday during the severe weather off Cape Greco, when the boat Dimi was travelling on got into serious difficulty in extremely rough seas and was driven onto the rocks. Dimi was recovered from the water by the emergency services and airlifted to Famagusta General Hospital, but sadly could not be saved.
For us, this news is particularly sad.
We at Simila Cyprus Car Rentals have known Dimi for more than 10 years and regularly met Dimi at the museum in Limassol.
Over the years, we sent many of our car rental customers to the Cyprus Historic & Classic Motor Museum, which became a very popular attraction with visitors exploring Cyprus.
The museum was also a regular stopping place for Páfos Bikers. Whenever our group arrived with the motorcycles, Dimi always made everyone feel extremely welcome.
Dimi loved seeing the different bikes arriving outside the museum and enjoyed talking with us about the latest motorcycles, new models and everything motoring.
Those visits produced many great memories, including the photographs we are sharing here.
Dimi created something very special in Limassol. The museum reflected a lifetime’s passion for cars, motorcycles and Cyprus motoring history, and Dimi shared that passion with thousands of visitors.
All of us at Simila Cyprus Car Rentals and Páfos Bikers will sadly miss Dimi Mavropoulos.
Our thoughts are with Dimi’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you, Dimi, for the friendship, the conversations and the many warm welcomes over the years.
You will be greatly missed. ❤️
Simon, Ludmila and everyone at Simila Cyprus Car Rentals & Páfos Bikers
