📋 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲.
𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱 — 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗻.

As of August 2026, Hacienda no longer lets you declare a low value on an imported vehicle and hope for the best. Under Decreto 45920, customs now uses whichever is higher: your invoice price, or the value in their own database. Depreciation is capped at 15 years. And Hacienda can come back and re-check your numbers for up to 4 years — with penalties of 50% to 150% of the tax if they disagree with you.

Stack DAI + ISC + IVA + Ley 6946 together and, depending on engine size, you're looking at roughly 𝟭𝟱% 𝘁𝗼 𝟲𝟱% 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝘅𝗲𝘀 on top of what you already paid for the car. On a 2.5L SUV, that's close to half its value again.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂: none of that applies to a car that's already national.

No import tax (it was already paid, once, a long time ago). No 4-year audit hanging over the paperwork. No exchange-rate or freight-quote surprises. Just a price, a traspaso, and a vehicle with real maintenance history and a Dekra record behind it — not a guess.
