Idle Speed and Not Respond to Acceleration
A 2022 KTM790 (CF800-8A) motorcycle’s engine has only idle speed and not respond to acceleration, and the engine malfunction indicator lamp is on. This motorcycle is assembled domestically by Chunfeng, which is equipped with BOSCH 17 EFI system and electronic throttle.


When repairing motorcycle, it is recommended to follow the diagnostic steps listed below:
1、Identify the fault symptom;
2、Check the fault code preferentially (See Service Assistant
APP);
3、Basic data flow judgment (including cold vehicle static
data flow and hot vehicle dynamic data flow);
4、Basic system inspection (including charging voltage, spark
plug, cylinder pressure, pump pressure, etc.);
Read the fault code with the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO 3000PRO as follows. The fault code could not be deleted:

The fault code is consistent with the fault phenomenon, but where is the problem? Is the motor broken, the line problem, or the ECU damage? Can it be solved by replacing the parts directly? The next step is to look at the data stream numerical analysis.

The data stream shows that the throttle opening is 0 degrees,
Throttle position sensor No.1 voltage is 0.5V,
Throttle position sensor No.2 voltage is 4.5V.
These above three values do not change when accelerating. And, the sum of the voltage of the two throttle position sensors is 5V, which proves that the high probability of the throttle position sensor is normal. Now look at the circuit diagram.

Throttle control motor M60 connect to the ECU with two lines directly, and measure the two lines of the motor with a multimeter are proved normal, which eliminate the line fault.

The resistance of the motor line on the throttle interface tested by multimeter is open circuit OL.

After communication with the owner, agreed to open the throttle body for inspection. Open the throttle’s plastic shell, the two electrodes of the motor tested by a multimeter have resistance, proving that the motor’s coil is good.

The problem is the poor contact of the connector between the plastic casing and the motor electrodes.
After adjusting the position and opening of the connector, the accessories are installed back in turn, and test the opening of the throttle with the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO 3000PRO. The data steam shows a 4 degrees opening.
Throttle position sensor No.1 voltage is 0.7V
Throttle position sensor No.2 voltage is 4.3V
The data changes normally when accelerating, and the fault code is deleted successfully. Start the motorcycle and test everything is normal.

The 2022 CHANGJIANG 400 engine malfunction indicator lamp is on, hard to start, and the medium and high-speed power is insufficient. This vehicle uses BOSCH 6.0 EFI system and the diagnostic interface is standard OBD.

The diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO MST-500PRO prompts the signals from throttle position sensor, intake air pressure sensor, and engine temperature sensor are abnormal, then look at the data stream:

Intake air temperature -40°C; Throttle position 100%; Engine temperature -40°C.
These three values are the limits that can be reached in the system. Are these three sensors broken at the same time?

The probability of three sensors broken at the same time is very low, and it is suspected that the common circuit of the three sensors is faulty. The sensor wiring diagrams found in the Service Assistant APP are as follows:

Find common point J1: Use the multi-meter OBDEMOTO-2900A to test the sensor ground wire from the sensor to the ECU is open circuit. Check the ECU harness connector and sensor connector can not see the problem, the break-point should be in the big line. Because it is too troublesome to separate the big line, connect an external ground wire directly from the engine temperature sensor. Everything restores normal when checking engine data flow again.

After the fault code is cleared, the engine malfunction indicator lamp is off. Everything is normal for the test run of the repaired motorcycle, and the problem is solved.

The 2022 ROJO system scooter is under-powered, difficult to start, and the engine malfunction indicator lamp is on.

ROJO is ECU and throttle integrated, this structure is still relatively special.
When repairing motorcycle, it is recommended to follow the diagnostic steps listed below:

The fault code indicate signal voltage of the throttle position sensor exceeds the reasonable range, and we use the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO MST-500PRO to enter the data stream for checking.

Throttle opening is the input signal from the throttle position sensor, and the ECU calculates the current throttle opening of the engine. Reference value range: 0 to 100%.
The rotated throttle angle matches the data displayed by the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO MST-500PRO, and no problem can be found.
The diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO MST-500PRO reports so many fault codes, not all sensors have problems, most of the cases are sensor shared circuit has problem or circuit interference. The fault code has shown interference, so focus on checking the components that can produce high-voltage interference:
1.Ignition Coil?
2.High-tension Cable?
3.High Voltage Cap?
4.Spark Plug?
When the spark plug is checked and find out that the owner has changed the spark plug by himself, there is no resistance R mark on the spark plug. Proving that the spark plug is not a spark plug with resistance according to the original requirements. Replace the spark plug with the R mark that follows original factory standard, and test the vehicle. Everything is normal, troubleshooting.
Before finishing the maintenance, clear all fault codes with diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO MST-500PRO, and reset ECU according to the prompt of the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO MST-500PRO.

A 2018 VESPA 300 made in Vietnam, the engine did not react when pressed to start, and the engine malfunction indicator lamp was not on. This motorcycle is Marelli EFI system.

When repairing motorcycle, it is recommended to follow the diagnostic steps listed below:
1、Identify the fault symptom;
2、Check the fault code preferentially (See Service Assistant APP);
3、Basic data flow judgment (including cold vehicle static data flow and hot vehicle dynamic data flow);
4、Basic system inspection (including charging voltage, spark plug, cylinder pressure, pump pressure, etc.);

According to experience, the first to test is simple and then complex works. The battery voltage is normal tested by a multimeter, so the problem is not caused by battery loss. It may be caused by the boot system failure or the computer tilting protection, connected to the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO-3000Pro for further detection.

The diagnostic interface of this motorcycle has 3 holes with 2wires and in black. There is no power supply on the diagnostic interface, and the external power supply is connected to the battery.
Because the engine malfunction indicator lamp of the dashboard is not on, the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO-3000Pro can not read the fault code. Then, look at the data stream. According to the status of the vehicle, an anomaly was detected when checking to the item 28 tilting sensor of the data stream. Under normal circumstances, the vehicle's upright state should be: “NORMAL”, but the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO-3000Pro shows that the current state is “TIP OVER”.

Remove the tipping sensor for inspection, which is caused by the sensor's internal jamming and sends an error signal to the ECU, causing the ECU to mistake the vehicle is at tipping over status and issue protection instructions so that the starting system does not work.

Here is a trick, turn off the tipping sensor and read the tipping data with the diagnostic scanner OBDEMOTO-3000Pro, which is “NORMAL”:
The engine can then be started normally. This method is only used for temporary testing. Replace the new tipping sensor for safety reason before finishing the maintenance service.😀
