Ghana Implement New Vehicle Import GSA Standards on October 1, 2026

Key Mandatory Entry Requirements:

• Vehicle Age Limit: Used vehicles more than 10 years old from their date of manufacture are prohibited. For shipments in 2026, only vehicles manufactured in 2016 or later are permitted.

• Vehicles involved in accidents, flood damage, or fires, as well as those that have been assembled from parts or modified, are strictly prohibited. Vehicle condition will be rigorously inspected.

• Only vehicles with odometers calibrated in kilometers are accepted; vehicles with odometers in miles will be denied clearance.

• Compliance with at least the Euro 2 emission standard is a critical requirement—and a major potential point of failure!

All used vehicles must undergo Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVOC) and obtain a Certificate of Conformity (CoC) prior to shipment.

⚠️Inspections cannot be performed after arrival at the port. Shipments lacking a valid certificate will be detained, resulting in exorbitant port demurrage charges and re-exportation costs. Ghana has implemented the VEDIS tracking system, which cross-references Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN) with vehicle condition data—making any form of falsification impossible.

✅ Step 1 | Owner Verification

Our Tunisian client already applied for a Chinese phone number and registered his own LEOPARD App account. We submitted the owner transfer application to BYD factory with : client full name, passport info, Chinese phone number & VIN.

After 3 working days’ official review, the vehicle was successfully transferred to the Tunisian buyer’s name. Our port team then logged into his LEOPARD App (input mobile + OTP verification) and finished the owner certification on his behalf.

✅ Step 2 | Cloud Service & Digital Key Activation

Once owner verification was approved, we activated cloud service in the App. Our port staff stayed beside the vehicle and activated Bluetooth & NFC digital keys.
