How It Works
The VCM harness is a passive electronic device (typically a resistor-based “muzzler”) that tricks the Engine Control Unit (ECU) into thinking the engine coolant temperature (ECT) is still below normal operating temperature.

It is installed in‑line with the ECT1 sensor (coolant temperature sensor).

The harness contains a fixed resistor that alters the voltage signal sent back to the ECU, making the ECU read a lower temperature than actual.

Because Honda’s VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) system is only enabled when the engine is fully warmed up, this false cold‑temperature signal prevents the ECU from activating cylinder deactivation.

As a result, all 6 cylinders fire continuously, eliminating the VCM‑related switching and its associated side effects.

🛠️ How to Install and Use (General Guide)
Follow your specific product’s manual first; this is a general reference.

Locate the ECT1 sensor – usually on the engine block or near the thermostat housing.

Disconnect the original factory harness plug from the sensor carefully.

Plug the VCM harness in‑line:

Connect the male end of the VCM harness to the sensor.

Connect the original vehicle harness plug to the female end of the VCM harness.

Select the correct resistor (if your harness has interchangeable resistors) – common values are 68Ω, 82Ω, etc.

Start with 82Ω for most models.

If the ECO light still comes on frequently → increase resistance (e.g., 100Ω).

If the Check Engine Light (CEL) turns on → decrease resistance (e.g., 68Ω).

Some advanced products (e.g., S‑VCM Controller) automatically adjust resistance based on temperature – in that case, no manual selection is needed.

Secure the harness with zip ties so it does not vibrate or touch hot moving parts.

Start the engine and verify:

The VCM indicator (ECO light) should stay off or very rarely activate.

No engine fault codes appear (or at least not the P3400 series related to VCM).

⚠️ Important: The harness does not disable the ECU’s diagnostic monitoring – so the Check Engine Light may still illuminate due to the altered temperature reading. If this happens, you may need to adjust the resistor value or clear the code with an OBD‑II scanner.
