Portrait of Shawn Dumont
When we started VanVan, it was clear to me that this project would not simply be the next RV rental company, nor did I personally want to start something like that. Rather, I was and am convinced that VanVan should be a company where various exponents can share in my work and develop their potential. I know from my own experience that valuable things are created when people trust, share and participate. I like this, and the results achieved in the 2 years of VanVan's existence have convinced me once again that sharing makes you richer.
One of these collaborators, whom I would like to introduce here, is someone who would never think of putting himself in the spotlight. Even he would have every reason to. Creative Lead at Rome SDS, Art Director at Burton Snowboards, and with his current "movement" Shelter Cultivation Project, he has been moving the creative scene in Burlington, Vermont and from there the world with his iconic designs for years. He also runs his own screen printing shop, Iskra Print Collective, where he produces and publishes art and shares his expertise through classes. I'm talking about my dear and incredibly talented friend SHAWN DUMONT.
Shawn provided VanVan with the graphic "Destination Anywhere" from the Shelter Cultivation Project fund this year. This graphic has become an integral part of the visual identity of VanVan Walter, Walter Schreifels' van. It is emblazoned in nearly 2 by 2 meters size on the pop-up roof and went woven in New York into beautiful patches that are available at VanVan.
