☀️ One scan, a few challenges, and a lot learned!

Time to capture the complete chassis for our V2 engine project with the EINSTAR Rockit – completely markerless and without scanning spray.

The biggest lesson? Infrared scanning and direct sunlight aren’t the best friends. 😅 Once the sun was lower, scanning became fast and tracking was rock solid.

Even the complete chassis was captured in one continuous scan. The wheels required a few tricks, but the final result turned out excellent! 👌

Next step: bringing everything together in 3D and designing the exhausts. 🔥

🔥Two cylinders. One Puch E50. Around 35 HP.

Remember the 2Fast 50cc “FASTINO” from my first EINSTAR Rockit scan? Now we’re taking two of them and turning the idea into a V2 engine!

The cylinders were scanned with the EINSTAR Rockit in laser mode at 0.3 mm resolution, giving us an accurate digital reference for the engine design.

The 3D scans of the cylinders and carburetors allow us to build the complete concept with accurate dimensions, check clearances and make the most of the extremely limited space.

Next step: scan the chassis and start designing the exhausts. 👀

This is going to be an interesting one!

🆕 Version 4.8.1 – Practical improvements for the 3D workspace!

🔲 Wireframe View for Pipes
Especially useful for comparison pipes and Multi Pipe Projects. Switch other pipes to Wireframe View for a clear view of your active project while still keeping their outlines visible.

👆 Select Through 3D Scans
You can now select and modify parts of your active project through a semi-transparent 3D model. Less hiding, moving and handling while designing.

↩️ Reset Modifications
Made a mess of your 3D design and want to start over in certain areas? Select the parts and press Ctrl + 0 (Zero) to reset angles, rotations and seam positions to zero.

Version 4.8.1 is available through the same download link as Version 4.8.

💡 3-MARKER TRICK 💡

Instead of covering the entire part with hundreds of markers, use just three fixed infrared markers as reference points. Combine them with marker cards and magnetic marker blocks for fast, stable tracking and easy scan alignment.

Less preparation. Faster scanning. Accurate results. 👌

🏍️ A real-world project where every millimeter counts.

The existing exhaust didn't have enough lean-angle clearance, so it was time for a complete redesign.

Using the EINSTAR Rockit, I first scanned the entire motorcycle in markerless IR mode, followed by a high-detail laser scan around the engine and exhaust fl**ge. The combined scan provided an accurate digital reference for designing the new exhaust directly in WS Exhaust Designer.

The result: maximum clearance, perfect fitment, and no guesswork before fabrication.
