Technology is great until used by thieves. Our consistent battle against dark motives.

Here is a good reason to have your horn activated/enabled to your passive anti theft system.

The honk informs users that their vehicle recognized the command of locking the vehicle and is also a confirmation to the user that their command was carried out!!

Be aware and take care!!

Why are tire rotations important?

Your vehicle will wear tires more in the front or rear depending on the type of drive system it has.

We want the deeper tread on the side that the vehicle is transfering power to during acceleration

Rotating tires , at least yearly, gives you/the tech the opportunity to fully see the tires exterior condition. (This helps to see if your suspension may be causing abnormal wear which would lead to a need for investigating the cause).

For emergency purposes :

1. When a rim is removed from a rotor/drum the tech/person can clean the surfaces for easy removal, in the future, in case you have a blow out on a trail/highway. (You can also have a full view of your brake pads, when rims are off the vehicle, to see if your brakes are wearing evenly and not worn out)

2. The lug nuts, that hold the rim on the vehicle, can be replaced if deformed. This also helps for ease of removal in emergencies.

In the eye of the 🛞 , Wear Them Wisely !!

Lets talk about : The Benefits of Changing Spark Plugs

Spark plugs are small but critical components of an internal combustion engine, responsible for igniting the air-fuel mixture to power your vehicle. Over time, they wear out due to heat, pressure, and carbon buildup, making regular replacement a simple yet impactful maintenance task. Here’s why changing spark plugs is worth it:

1. **Improved Engine Performance**
Fresh spark plugs deliver a strong, consistent spark, ensuring efficient combustion. This translates to smoother acceleration, better throttle response, and an overall livelier engine, especially noticeable in older or high-mileage vehicles.

2. **Enhanced Fuel Efficiency**
Worn spark plugs can misfire or fail to ignite the fuel mixture completely, wasting gas and reducing miles per gallon. Replacing them optimizes combustion, potentially saving you money at the pump—studies suggest a 3-4% fuel economy boost with new plugs in some cases.

3. **Reduced Emissions**
Efficient combustion means fewer unburned hydrocarbons and pollutants escaping through the exhaust. New spark plugs help your engine run cleaner, lowering your environmental footprint and aiding compliance with emissions standards.

4. **Smoother Idling and Fewer Misfires**
Old or fouled spark plugs can cause rough idling, stalling, or that annoying “shudder” when you’re stopped at a light. A fresh set eliminates these issues, restoring a steady, quiet idle and reliable operation.

5. **Prevention of Engine Damage**
Misfiring plugs strain other components like the catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, and ignition coils, potentially leading to costly repairs. Proactive replacement keeps the engine running harmoniously and avoids bigger headaches down the road.

6. **Cost-Effective Maintenance**
Spark plugs are relatively inexpensive (typically $5-$20 each) and easy to replace, especially compared to the fallout of neglecting them. For most vehicles, swapping them every 50,000-100,000 Kilometers (depending on the type—copper, platinum, or iridium) is a small investment for big returns. (Living in tge northern climates I would inspect every 50k!)

In short, changing spark plugs is a low-effort, high-reward task that keeps your engine firing on all cylinders—literally. It’s a quick tune-up that boosts performance, saves fuel, and extends the life of your ride. Whether you’re a daily commuter or a weekend gearhead, it’s a maintenance win you’ll feel with every turn of the key.

Let’s talk, “SNOW!” It’s the season to make sure you’re equipped with winter rated tires for the sake of your own safety and those around you.

Don’t be this vehicle, by doing your best to prepare for the season!!

Tires are costly.

Having a portable tire inflator is ideal for keeping you and your family safe on road trips. Also prevent abnormal driving characteristics/uneven tire wear.

Owning a portable and compact tire inflator can prevent you from :

1. Having to install a spare tire because of a small leak

2. Having a run flat because you decided to move the vehicle without air in the tire

3. Having to visit a dealership/shop or gas station every week

Repairing any leak would be the best result but when a small leak can’t be repaired, at a specific point in time, these inflators can be a life/tire saver.

Here is a short clip showing how easy it is to use 😊

Lets talk about the Weather! How to take ACTION! Tires? Batteries? Washer Fluid Temp Rating? Coolant Temp Rating? Snow/Ice build up!?

Were collecting quite a bit of snow here in the City of Yellowknife, it is important to have a good ice scraper!

Also making sure your tires are good for the snow! Tires with the snow flake rating are ideal here.

If you have summer washer fluid in your washer fluid tank, you probably already found out. Time to bring into a warm shop, thaw out, drain it and fill with -40c rated fluid. (you can just hold your washer fluid button on till you run dry, to drain).

If your boosting your vehicle after sitting for a day or two, your battery is likely required to be replaced. A battery older then three years of age is due for a replacement, depending on maintenance and treatment of it.

Snow and ice may be building up around your tires or even in your rims. Kick that snow/ice to the curb ! It don't belong there!

Have a good pair of thick gloves so you can clean the ice off your wiper blades once they sit on the warm windshield after parking or you can lift your wiper blades off the windshield when parked so they don't collect ice.

Make sure your coolant is rated for -40C, a simple tester can be purchased at your friendly Canadian Tire to verify, then if not around that temp, get to a shop and ask them to weaken or strengthen it, for a price of course!

Just a friendly reminder, if your vehicle doesn't have a trickle charger (good for arctic climate) or a block heater or an oil pan heater, I would look at installing those before getting to -25C temps where vehicles have struggles starting after sitting in that temp for a couple days without running.

***if you work at camp, you can just plug in the trickle charger to keep your battery a good temp and at proper voltage*** or take the battery out all together, if easy, and leave indoors or disconnect the negative ground terminal (if in a rush, just leave a note in the truck in case someone else needs the unit), BUT you still will need to plug in your block heater and/or oil pan heater roughly 3 hours before attempting to start at that -25C or colder temp for a safe cold start on your engine.

P.S: Remembrance Day is near, LEST WE FORGET, God Bless all Veterans and those whom are affected by War.

As winter is approaching you may notice an urgency to prepare.

Recommendations:

Make sure your tire pressures are nice and high, but not passed max allowance.

Make sure your blower motor is working and coolant is at proper temp rating. So your gonna be warm and coolant won’t freeze/gel.

Make sure your washer fluid is rated for cold temp

Make sure your fluids are all full

If your in for a -30 or worse winter : I always recommend you have a good known trickle charger and oil pan heater equipped on your vehicle, including a block heater (if not originally there)
