When your wheelchair van is down, every minute counts. Downtime impacts more than just a vehicle; it affects the people relying on it.

Keeping accessible vehicles on the road starts with understanding the difference between chassis-related issues and conversion equipment concerns. Knowing who to call, what information to have ready, and when to act can help reduce downtime and get your vehicle back in service faster.

Stay prepared by:
✔️ Keeping vehicle details accessible
✔️ Knowing your chassis type (Ford Transit or Ram ProMaster)
✔️ Addressing small issues before they become major repairs

Reliable transportation starts with proactive maintenance and the right support.

Accessibility is about more than access. It’s about opportunity, independence, joy, and belonging.

This Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we’re reminded that when barriers are removed, people have more opportunities to participate fully in their communities.

Let’s keep building a world where accessibility is not an afterthought, but the standard.

Vaccination rates in Indigenous communities across Canada remain below the national average, not because people don't care, but because the system hasn't always made access easy.

Distance, transportation barriers, and a history of unequal care have made it harder for many communities to get the protection they deserve.

Mobile vaccine clinics are changing that. By bringing healthcare directly to communities at the band office, the school, the community centre, we remove the barriers that have stood in the way for too long.

$51 billion in federal infrastructure funding is now available across Canada, and transit programs are among the most eligible.

The Build Communities Strong Fund launched in April 2026 is delivering over $2.5 billion per year to communities through the Community Stream. Public transit, accessible transportation, and community vehicles are historically among the top funded categories.

If your organization is planning ahead, now is the time to align your program with this opportunity.

May is Mobility Awareness Month!

For many Canadians, access to reliable, accessible transportation isn't a convenience, it's what makes independence possible. It's how people get to appointments, connect with their communities, and live life on their own terms.

This month, we're proud to stand behind the communities, transit teams, and organizations working every day to move people forward.

What If My Lift Breaks Down?

Wheelchair lift broke down? Here's what to do.

Don't force it. Call 844-951-3808 or email [email protected] - most issues get diagnosed over the phone. If it needs to come in, we have locations in Winnipeg and Mississauga plus authorized service centres across Canada. And your lift has a manual backup if power fails, nobody gets stranded.

How Do You Maintain a Wheelchair Lift?

The most important wheelchair lift maintenance habit takes 30 seconds a week.

Operate your lift at least once a week — even if no one is riding it. Hydraulic systems and mechanical parts need regular movement to stay healthy. Add lubrication, snow and ice clearing, and periodic safety inspections, and most lift problems never happen.

Is a Wheelchair Lift Safe?

Wheelchair van lifts have 5 built-in safety features — and none of them are optional.

Interlock system, platform restraint belt, side barriers, flat-ground requirement, and a manual backup for power failures. Every one of these is standard on a properly spec'd lift. Safe by design, not by chance.

Is a wheelchair lift actually right for your organization? It depends.

Lifts work best for heavier manual wheelchairs and teams where physical exertion is a concern. They're not ideal for passengers who use walkers or canes — being lifted off the ground can feel unsettling for that group. High-volume operations should also know lifts load slower than ramps.
