Competition is just around the corner! ⚡

This week, our team completed a mock technical inspection led by UMSAE Formula Electric alumni and advisors. By recreating the competition inspection process, they helped us identify our strengths, spot areas for improvement, and continue refining our car ahead of competition.

It was also a great opportunity for current members to connect with alumni, hear about their experiences, and learn from those who have been in our shoes before.

Thank you to all of our alumni and advisors for your continued support and mentorship. We couldn’t do it without you!

Data is the lifeblood of performance, and we are thrilled to showcase how we’re leveling up our data acquisition this season! 🏎️⚡️

A massive thank you to Intrepid Control Systems for sponsoring us with the neoVI PI and their powerful software . 🤝

This compact, centralized unit is a game-changer for our car’s architecture. Mounted right behind the driver’s seat, the neoVI PI connects directly to our CAN bus to log data in real time from every critical sensor on the vehicle. We are currently using it to validate signals from our brake temperature sensors, shock pots, and thermistors. By capturing these signals through our Sensor Control Unit (SCU) and logging them to an onboard NVMe, we can monitor everything from torque request curves to safety-critical pedal ranges directly from our laptops. This level of targeted debugging and year-over-year performance evaluation is only possible thanks to the incredible support from Intrepid Control Systems! 📈💻

A couple days ago, Formula Electric had its competition readiness meeting with our advisors Nish Balakrishnan and Paul Labossiere ahead of our Mock Technical Inspection ⚡️

The team has been putting in countless late nights, long meetings, and hours in the shop getting the car ready for competition season. This review was a huge step in the process, giving both the mechanical and electrical teams detailed feedback on everything from safety and reliability to mounting, suspension, steering, cable management, and overall vehicle readiness.

There’s still lots of work ahead, but seeing how much dedication, teamwork, and effort everyone continues to put in every day makes all the long nights worth it.
