Founded by Tharren Moberly, a proud Dene First Nation Member from northern Saskatchewan, All Rut Long is one of the businesses featured in our new Vendor Spotlight!

Our partnership with All Rut Long began through Expand Your Market, a North West program that creates opportunities for local and Indigenous-owned businesses to connect directly with our Merchandise team. Through a dedicated one-on-one meeting, businesses can share their story, tell us about their products and explore opportunities to work together.

“One of the biggest hurdles for a growing Indigenous-owned business is getting the opportunity to connect with the right people…” shared Moberly. “I'm grateful for the opportunity and excited to see where this collaboration leads.”

Registration for Expand Your Market closes October 14, 2026. Don’t miss your opportunity to connect with our team, showcase your products and take the next step for your business.

A new chapter has officially begun for our Northern store in Iqaluit!

Following years of renovations, improvements, and our transition from NorthMart to Northern, we marked this exciting milestone alongside our customers, business partners, and employees.

As part of the celebration last week, our team was honoured to present $2,500 donations to two local non-profit organizations: Uquutaq Society and Embrace Life Council

The grand opening also gave customers a chance to join in the festivities with giveaways, grand prizes, and activities happening throughout the store.

✨We’re proud to continue serving the Iqaluit community from our bright, refreshed space and look forward to all that’s ahead!

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we wear Orange to honour the children who were taken from their families, those who never returned home, the Survivors, and their families.

We are grateful for the opportunities that help deepen our understanding of the lasting impacts of the residential school system. From listening to stories of Survivors to celebrating partnerships and collaborative efforts advancing reconciliation, we are reminded of the importance of continued learning and action.

These moments reinforce our ongoing commitment to reconciliation and shape how we build respectful relationships, serve communities, and live Our Promise to Indigenous Peoples every day. 🧡

Congratulations to our Alaska Commercial team as they broke ground in Hoonah last week! Developed in partnership with the Hoonah Indian Association and designed with the input from hundreds of Hoonah residents, the new store will provide the island community with reliable, year-round access to fresh produce, meat, and everyday essentials. We can’t wait to see ACC’s 39th store take shape.

Today, we were honoured to welcome Michelle Cameron, Founder and Owner of Dreamcatcher Promotions, to Gibraltar House as we continue to observe Truth and Reconciliation Week.

Michelle shared her entrepreneurial journey and reflected on the impact of North West’s ongoing support through Every Child Matters apparel purchase, which have helped raise $176,000 in support of the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

We also celebrated five years of partnership with Dreamcatcher Promotions, a milestone showcasing North West’s shared commitment to supporting reconciliation, Indigenous economic inclusion and awareness initiatives across northern Canada.

We are proud of what we have accomplished together with Dreamcatcher Promotions and look forward to continuing this important effort.

Heave-ho, Team North West!

Nor’Westers joined United Way’s Plane Pull last week, setting the tone for this giving season.

Joined by 1600+ Winnipeggers, the day was filled with music, entertainment, and plenty of stretching, of course.

Despite the rain, our team gave it their all as they kicked off another year supporting the United Way Winnipeg to help make our city a better place for everyone.

Truth and Reconciliation week begins at North West.

At a special gathering at Gibraltar House yesterday, we were honoured to welcome Jennifer Wood, a Residential School Survivor, who shared her lived experiences and reflections on the importance of truth-telling, drawing from her years of work with communities, governments, and advocacy organizations.

Educator and Knowledge Keeper Helen Settee shared powerful teachings through prayer and song.

To mark this week, North West raised the Survivors Flag in recognition and support of Truth and Reconciliation week.

We are grateful for these honest, meaningful conversations and for the opportunity to listen, learn, and reflect on how we can help advance reconciliation.🧡

Our Northern store in Pangnirtung, NU, became the first in our network to receive a sealift delivery this season!

With the help of store staff and community members, 23 sea cans and 21 large crates of merchandise were unloaded over the span of two days. Thanks to a whole lot of team effort, they sorted and carefully organized around 230 pallets of products, getting new items ready for purchase for our customers.

For northern communities, the arrival of sealift signals greater product variety, more shelf-stable items, and more competitive pricing. This is our northern supply chain in action, powered by teamwork, planning, and commitment to ensuring northern families have access to the products they need when they need it!

It’s back-to-school season, and our RiteWay & Cost.U.Less teams are busy ensuring young learners start the year off with the supplies they need.

In early August, Cost.U.Less Grand Cayman partnered with Caribbean Alliance to support the local Stuff the Bus initiative, marking the store’s eighth year of participation. Through school supplies purchased and donated by customers, along with funds contributed by vendors, our team prepared 100 bags with learning essentials for distribution to students who needed a little extra support.

Meanwhile our Rite Way Food Markets staff distributed school backpacks filled with essential school supplies to 100 preschoolers in the British Virgin Islands, helping build excitement for the start of a new academic year.

Across our markets, we’re proud to see our teams come together with partners and customers to make impactful initiatives like these possible.
