❄️🚛 **WINTER HAS OFFICIALLY ARRIVED!** 🚛❄️

Well, Westlock, it looks like winter has finally decided to make its appearance! 🌨️

With the snow and colder temperatures come icy roads, reduced visibility, slippery highways, and unpredictable driving conditions.

As we all adjust to another Alberta winter, **we at County Towing want to remind everyone to take a little extra care when heading out on the roads.**

🚗 A FEW WINTER DRIVING REMINDERS:

-Slow down and drive for the conditions.
-Leave extra distance between vehicles.
-Watch for black ice and blowing snow.
-Allow extra travel time and check road conditions before heading out.

🚨 **PLEASE REMEMBER: SLOW DOWN, MOVE OVER!** 🚨

When you see flashing lights on the side of the road, whether it's a tow truck, police vehicle, ambulance, fire truck, or highway maintenance crew, **please slow down and move over when safe to do so!**

Alberta's **Slow Down, Move Over law** requires drivers to move into a lane farther away from stopped roadside vehicles with flashing lights when safe. If you cannot safely move over, slow down to **60 km/h or the posted speed limit, whichever is lower.**

💛 **A LITTLE COURTESY GOES A LONG WAY!**

Our tow truck operators and fellow roadside workers are often out in some of the worst winter conditions, sometimes just feet away from passing traffic, helping stranded motorists, clearing accident scenes, and doing everything they can to help people get home safely.

Please be patient, give them plenty of room to work, and remember that behind every set of flashing lights is someone with family and friends waiting for them to come home, just like you.

🚨 **County Towing Is Hiring — Full-Time Tow Truck Operator**

County Towing is seeking a dependable and motivated individual to join our team as soon as possible. This is a full-time, commission-based position with complete on-the-job training provided.

**What You’ll Do**

As a tow truck operator, your responsibilities will include:

* Safely loading, transporting, and unloading vehicles
* Properly securing vehicles and other loads using straps, chains, and related equipment
* Winching and recovering vehicles from ditches, snow, mud, and other difficult situations
* Responding to breakdowns, collisions, and roadside service calls
* Operating towing and recovery equipment safely and responsibly
* Completing basic inspections of the tow truck and equipment
* Accurately completing required paperwork and service documentation
* Communicating professionally and courteously with customers, emergency personnel, and other members of the public
* Working outdoors in varying weather and road conditions

**Position Requirements**

* Valid Class 5 driver’s license (non-GDL)
* Clean driver’s abstract
* Satisfactory criminal record check
* Willingness to work scheduled day and night shifts
* Air Brake (Q) Endorsement is an asset but not required
* General mechanical knowledge would be beneficial
* No previous towing experience is necessary but would be considered an asset—we will provide training

Day-shift operators must remain at the County Towing office during regular office hours when not responding to calls. Night-shift operators may remain at the office or be on call from a residence located within a 15-minute drive of Westlock.

The first three months of employment will be considered a probationary period. An in-house operator evaluation will be completed at the end of probation and every three months thereafter. Following a successful evaluation, the possibility of a guaranteed compensation arrangement may be discussed.

Whenever our dispatch team updates our current response times, the website updates automatically too. You'll even be able to see when the ETA was last updated, so you know you're looking at the latest information.

Need to know if today is a good day to have your vehicle towed from home to your repair shop before an upcoming appointment? Just take a quick look at our website to get an idea of our current availability.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS ⚠️

County Towing would like to make the public aware of Roadside Assistance scams currently happening in our area. Recently, we became aware of a situation where a consumer was targeted by a fraudulent Roadside Assistance Operation. Unfortunately, the scam had already been completed before it was brought to our attention.

The consumer had searched for AMA on google and the top result was a Roadside Assistance Operation that Charged the Client when performing a dispatch intake, then told the tow truck operator to also charge the client when on scene. This Roadside Assistance Provider also stated that it was against policy for the tow truck operator to disclose any pricing or invoice information to the client, which as of 2026, Alberta Tow Truck and Storage Regulations , is illegal.

At this time, due to privacy regulations and an ongoing Consumer Affairs review, we are unable to disclose the company name involved until authorization has been given.

We strongly encourage all motorists to stay vigilant when requesting roadside or towing services. Before agreeing to service:

✔️ Verify the Roadside Assistance name and Contact information
✔️ Use trusted and reputable roadside assistance providers
✔️ Be cautious of unsolicited tow trucks arriving unexpectedly
✔️ Ask for pricing and identification before service begins
✔️ Research reviews and company legitimacy whenever possible

❌ Do Not Trust Google to Provide you with a Trusted Company as both Towing Companies and Roadside Assistance Providers can pay to have their ad appear above all others.
