October is always a special month for us—it marks the moment it all began back in 2008. This month, we are celebrating 18 years in business, and reaching this milestone has us reflecting on the incredible journey that brought us here.
First and foremost, thank you to the community of Vernon. Without your continued trust, loyalty, and support over the past 18 years, none of this would have been possible. You’ve welcomed us, backed us, and made doing business here an absolute privilege.
A business is only as strong as the people behind it, and we are beyond fortunate with our team. Fun fact: nearly 75% of our crew over the years is still connected to us—which might sound crazy until you realize almost everyone is family!
We want to give some very special shoutouts to the people who helped build this foundation:
Bobbi & Shawn: Bobbi has been with our family for over 20 years—long before Swan Lake was even a thought in our minds. She started out as my parents' bookkeeper and has now stepped into the role of our new business manager following Mom’s retirement. Meanwhile, her husband Shawn has been keeping our showroom in top shape right from the very beginning. We truly couldn't do it without either of you!
Robin & Karen Williams: When we first opened our doors, we needed a business manager, so we convinced Robin—a longtime family friend—to come out of retirement. Karen joined shortly after to keep our day-to-day running smoothly. They gave us over 14 incredible years before heading into a well-deserved retirement in Mexico. We know you two are soaking up every minute down south, but we definitely miss Robin’s classic stock tips and "back in my day" stories around the office!
Joe Anderson: Joe gave us 10 wonderful years before his retirement. Rest in peace, Joe—thank you for everything you brought to our team.
Josh: An absolute rock who has been with us for just over 13 years and counting.
Mike: My brother-in-law, who has been in the trenches with us for over 6 years now.
At the end of the day, family is the beating heart of what we do. That brings it to the four of us: Mom, Dad, Heather, and me.
Heather and I are endlessly grateful for the opportunities, wisdom, and unconditional love Mom and Dad have poured into this business and into us. As this year winds down and our parents officially step back to let Heather and I take the reins, our biggest wish is that Mom and Dad can finally kick their feet up, relax, and let the "kids" handle things from here... (though Dad shouldn't get too comfortable—I'm definitely still stealing him one day a week so I can get a break!).
We love this business, we love this city, and we love this community. Thank you, Vernon, for 18 unforgettable years. We can't wait to see what the next 18 bring!
