Hey everyone , how have you all been?
It’s been really busy over here lately , tire season is in full swing, the battery and fuel pump cold weather blitz has started , and I am enjoying laying underneath various hoopties whilst being rained on 😀😂
I had a thought , maybe I could post some lesser known tips I have about the automotive world once a week, just for fun .
Here’s a big one to start :
You should actually never add brake fluid to your car! Let me explain .
Hydraulic brake systems are closed systems , meaning that they already contain the perfect amount of fluid in them . Aside from having them flushed at the recommended interval , you should never even need to open the cap on the master . If the brake fluid is getting lower over a long period of time , you can use the brake fluid level as a measure of how much life your pads have left . If it’s getting down to around minimum , you know you should atleast have them looked at. The only other reason the fluid will decrease is if you have a leak . This will also be accompanied by either a hard or spongy pedal, and poor braking performance . Take a look at the back side of each of your tires , and also look on the ground where you park, for any signs of brake fluid . If it’s on the back side of the tire , or all over inside of the rim, that’s your bad actor .
Happy fall yall!
Here’s some very pretty drilled rotors and ceramic pads I’m putting on a customers sweet single cab 4th gen ram !
