2014 Suburu BRZ A Service
This vehicle came in for a maintenance service. An A service is an oil and filter change, an inspection. We look at things like the air filter, under hood inspection, an under-vehicle inspection, but not a wheel-off inspection, so it's a visual inspection because we do all our oil changes/A services on a two-post hoist. The wheels are all hanging free. So we always give the wheels a wiggle to make sure there's nothing obviously loose. This is an advantage of having us do the service over a l**e shop where you drive into a pit and the wheels stay on the ground. The oil gets changed just fine in that sort of circumstance, but we do a little more, so you get more value.

2012 Subaru Outback Torque Converter
So this vehicle came to us for an out of province inspection. This vehicle is not registered in British Columbia, and so in order to do that the vehicle has to be run through an inspection by a licensed inspector. Which I am, and our shop is a licensed inspection shop. �So I went through the inspection, found quite a few items that need to be done, but the most interesting one, and that brings us to this podcast today, was that when I was pulling up to a stop sign and hit the brake hard, the engine would stall. Torque converter was locked on and wouldn't release. Anyways, that was among the things we needed to replace on the vehicle and address to make sure the vehicle's safe. It's a safety inspection, and a vehicle that stalls is not safe.

2011 Ford Edge ABS Brakes
This vehicle came to us, it was a new client. We did a B service on it, which is an oil change and a full vehicle inspection. And one of his concerns was that the ABS light would come on the vehicle. So we proceeded to do a diagnostic on the ABS system and found that the right front tone ring for the ABS was broken.

2012 Jeep Wrangler Tie Rods
This is a regular client of ours, they brought their vehicle in for a B service, which is an oil and filter change, along with a full vehicle inspection. You should do every second service on any vehicle. This is a 2012, so it's getting older. We found a few issues but the one issue we're featuring in this podcast is a tie rod replacement. All the tie rod ends were loose, they had excess play and that'll cause your steering to wander around and not feel tight

2016 Mercedes G Wagon Front Axles �
The front steering knuckles had some grease leaking out of them, so this has a very old style, very heavy duty front suspension and drivetrain. Almost unfitting for the fanciness of this vehicle, but it's very tough. But it is vulnerable to water getting inside the steering knuckle, and that's what was happening with this vehicle. The owner had a service done at Mercedes. They found the issue, gave him a quote, it was exceptionally high, and asked if we could do anything better. And we were able to come up with something substantially better with the same equivalent quality of parts and all OEM Mercedes parts and do the job.

2014 Toyota Sienna Transfer Case
This van came in for some drive train noises. We did some diagnostics on it, a road test to verify the customer's complaint. There was some growling, humming noises as we sped up. Put the vehicle on the hoist. Being all wheel drive is excellent because you can run the vehicle on the hoist. We can listen to the various drivetrain components with a stethoscope. Found that the right rear wheel bearing was noisy, which we talked about in a different podcast. We also found the transfer case was very loud. There was a lot of noise coming from the transfer case bearings. And so this podcast we'll talk about replacing the transfer case.

2014 Toyota Sienna Wheel Bearing Repair
This vehicle came to our shop with some complaints of drive train noises. So we performed our diagnostics, road tested the vehicle, brought it up on the hoist. It's an all wheel drive, able to run the vehicle on the hoist and listen to the various drive train components. We found a couple of things. The transfer case was noisy and also the right rear wheel bearing was badly worn.

2014 Ram ProMaster 2500 Van Camshaft Repair
This vehicle had some pretty severe tapping noise in the engine. Did some diagnosis. It was definitely coming from the rear cylinder bank. Probably a camshaft or rocker arm issue, we figured, which is common on these vehicles. This vehicle had over 200,000 kilometres, but we see it at much lower mileages, as it's a fairly common issue in a lot of these vehicles.

2023 Chevy Bolt EV Maintenance Service
This vehicle has about 40 to 50,000 kilometres. And it was due for a maintenance service, so the owner had decided to bring it to us for a maintenance service. They didn't really like the dealer's quote for the service. It was somewhere over $800, we're in Canada. That's the Canadian dealer price on whatever service they were offering for this mileage in time. They thought it was a little excessive and so did we.

2014 Mercedes C300 Ambient Air
The owner had complained that the engine sometimes had a little, what felt like a misfire. The check engine light is on, and also I believe the climate control system wasn't quite working properly either. Even though the client has said it was a misfire, the only code was for an ambient air temperature sensor. And the sensor basically measures the air temperature of the outside air. Nothing to do with the engine.
