Here at Get a Van Corp — how much can we fit on one roof of a midsize Sprinter?

Everyone said it wasn’t possible. But we said: a lot is possible. And apparently, it is.

This client’s setup included a roof rack, two 185W solar panels mounted side by side, (to hide them away), a 50cmx70cm Nomadic Ark skylight, and a 40x40 Nomadic Ark fan. The space between the skylight, solar panels, and fan was less than 1 inch.

It took 10 hours to get everything fitted up there, but we made it happen. We even still have enough room at the back for some Maxtrax. Amazing result.

Well… not exactly how I planned my week to go 😅

I broke two fingers, and my thumb had a deep cut across the back that went all the way through the skin — it needed 8 stitches.

A big thank you to the amazing ER team at Burnaby Hospital for taking me in right away and taking such good care of me. I truly appreciate it.

Work will be a bit slower over the next couple of weeks while I heal, but we’re working on finding a replacement “hand” to help out temporarily — and possibly even long term.

Things are getting busier every year. This year alone we have:

3 full van builds

2 trailer builds

Many partial projects

Daily awning installations

Window installs

Additional van seat installations

Electrical setups every month, including lots of solar installations

We are in serious need of more staff. If you know a skilled van builder or a talented hands-on person looking for work, please have them send their resume to [email protected]

Our newest member of the fleet has arrived — meet Sky ☁️🚐
We’re starting the build in the next couple of days, and we can’t wait to see where this one leads.

Right now, we’re designing a brand-new layout. This will be our first short van in the rental fleet at Get a Van, and everything is still open. We’re exploring ideas like:
• Storage that slides in and out of the shower
• Fixed wall layout vs. open concept
• A hidden toilet
• An awning for outdoor living
• Swivel seats
• A dining table with a post system
• 1000Ah battery for true off-grid travel
• 3000W inverter
• 700W solar system
• 20L hot water tank
• Wide flares for a real sleeping experience with a giant bed
