Thank you to all members who voted in the proposed amalgamation resolution this week.

Today, we are excited to announce that Fruitvale and Slocan Valley Co-op members have voted in favour of merging together to create one co-operative Association – Valley Merchant Co-op (Valley Co-op), effective Nov. 1, 2026.

Our Co-ops serve members across the Kootenays, and we will continue to provide top-quality services and products as we build a future as one organization.

Thank you to our members for participating in this special membership vote and for your patience and belief in your local Co-op. We look forward to supporting our communities, our members’ needs and planning for the next generation.

Over the coming months, we will be busy ensuring there is no disruption to service. We look forward to serving you and building better together.

We invite our members of the Slocan Valley Co-operative Association to attend the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Slocan Park Community Hall on Wednesday, May 27 at 6:30 PM.

The AGM is an important opportunity for members to receive reports from the Directors and Management, and review the 2025 financial statements of their Co-op. This year there is significant member decision with the Special Resolution for the amalgamation of the Slocan Valley Co-op and Fruitvale Co-op.

A year has passed since we last saw the smiling face of our Administration Ace, Matthew Jestin. We fondly remember his excitement, thoughtful kindness, quick wit and humour. It was always a treat to hear a customer try to recall the person whom helped them in our office, expressing it was the gentleman with the epic moustache - that made it clear. Matthew's greater impact within the Co-op, the community, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him was indeed legendary. In Matthew's honour and memory, the Co-op is making a $1,000 contribution to a society dear to him, the Kootenay Animal Assistance Program (KAAP) www.kaap.ca - Thank you for being a part of our team and our lives, Matthew. You will be missed.
