Well, it’s only been 3 years since my last post.
Starting this wonderful Christmas Day, that’s going to change.
No — I haven’t gone out of business, but my business has changed.
Earlier this year, I sold the Auto Service division that I operated for over 43 years to a former employee. On March 1, Robin Tattersall ( tattersallautomotive . com) officially took over the service operation and made it his own. Robin is, without a doubt, one of the best—if not the best—automotive technicians I have ever known, and I’m incredibly proud to see him continue the legacy.
Robin asked me to stay on to mentor him and help manage the service operations, while he remains the hands-on head technician. He is a truly exceptional diagnostic technician, and the shop is in very capable hands.
At the same time, I had been preparing to close the Auto Sales division. After some discussion with Robin, I’ve decided instead to reorganize it—with a new direction. More to come about the new direction.
Rather than focusing on higher-end European vehicles like BMW, I am shifting my focus to a part of the used-car market that has almost disappeared: good-quality vehicles under $10,000.
This is the part of the market that has become the most difficult—and risky—for people who simply need reliable, affordable transportation. I’m not doing this to make a living—I don’t need to—and that allows me to keep prices fair, vehicles honest, and risk as low as possible.
The goal is simple:
Affordable vehicles. Good quality. Real protection for the buyer.
More to come.
Merry Christmas, and thank you to everyone who has supported me over the years.
