(Part 3/3) G Licensing Information 💯
Congrats! To get to this point, you passed your G1 Exit Test and now have a G2 License.

Moving on to obtaining FULL Licensing privileges, the G class license, your next step is to pass your G2 Exit Test.

In preparation for this test, you will need to gain highway driving experience - driving on highways with speed limits of at least 80 km/h.
A Declaration of Highway Driving Experience form must also be completed before beginning your G2 Exit Test.

Building off your G1 Exit Test training with Let's Drive Ontario, with the successful completion of your G License you will gain a mastery of experience in the following:

✅ Starting, stopping, turning
✅ Traffic signs and lights
✅ Passing vehicles, bicycles and driving in passing lanes
✅ Driving in controlled/uncontrolled intersections
✅ Parallel parking and reversing
✅ Foreseeing and preparing for hazardous conditions
✅ Safe driving practices
✅ Highway driving experience

(Part ⅔) G2 Licensing Information ✅
Once you obtain your G1 License, your next step is to move to Class G2, or Level Two!

To obtain your G2, you must pass your G1 Exit Road Test. In the 8 months time frame of your Class G1, you will have time to prepare and hone your driving skills. 🚗

The G1 Exit Road Test covers a number of topics that our students are well prepared for, such as: vehicle starting and backing, driving along, intersections, turning, parking, and roadside stopping/parking.

In preparation for their G2, students often find it useful to enroll in an MTO Approved BDE (Beginner Driver Education) Course in order to master the basics.

Once students complete their BDE Online Instruction, they are then ready to begin their Driving Lessons in Car!
Let's Drive Ontario offers 10 In-Car lessons catered to the driving experience of our individual students - in a judgement free zone. 🙂

Class G2 is a minimum of 12 months upon
a road test pass. To obtain full licensing privileges, students must pass a G2 Exit Road Test for a Class G License. Stay tuned for our next post for more information!

(Part ⅓) Want to get your driver’s license, but are not sure where to start? It’s quite simple! 🚗

This week we will cover the different graduated license classes of G1, G2 and G that new drivers must go through when applying for their first car license in Ontario.

This post covers information related to applying and obtaining the Level One: Class G1 👇

The initial process of applying for your G1 license at your nearest DriveTest Centre involves three key factors. All applicants must:

1. Be at least 16 years of age or older
2. Pass a vision test
3. Pass a knowledge test consisting of road signs and the rules of the road

The G1 Knowledge test is made of 40 Multiple Choice questions, with 20 Road and Traffic Sign questions and 20 Rules of the Road questions.
In order to pass, you must achieve 16 correct questions in each section.

Students can study for this test using the Official MTO (Ministry of Transportation) Driver's Handbook. An online version can be accessed on Ontario.ca, or purchased physically at a local retailer.

Class G1 normally lasts for 12 months. If you pass an approved BDE (Beginner Driver Education) course provided by an MTO approved driving school, such as Let's Drive Ontario, this time frame reduces to 8 months. 🙂

It is recommended that students in Class G1 begin their driving training as soon as possible to ensure they are experienced enough to pass their G1 Exit Road Test. More information on obtaining your G2 License will be coming this week!
