If you're sending a kid off to school with the car this fall, go through this quick checklist together:

✅ Check tire pressure: Make sure tires are inflated to the recommended level
✅ Inspect tread depth: Use a tread depth gauge or look for built-in wear indicators on the tire itself
✅ Review where to find the spare tire, jack, and lug wrench, and how to use them
✅ Look for cracking or bulging in the tire sidewalls which can indicate structural defects
✅ Watch for shaking or pulling on the road, pointing to an issue with alignment, brake pads, or tire pressure

🚂 All aboard for Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, where a 19th-century train station has been given a whole new life as one of the most unique hotels not just in Canada, but anywhere!

The Train Station Inn began more than 40 years ago, when 18-year-old rail enthusiast James LeFresne bought the old station and started transforming it into the eclectic boutique inn, restaurant, café and gift shop it is today. Guests can spend the night in fully refurbished vintage Canadian cabooses and boxcars, wander the train yard, explore the old rail bed that now forms part of the Trans Canada Trail, and finish the day with a meal inside the dining car.

It’s part hotel, part time capsule, part love letter to the golden age of train travel, and exactly the kind of Hidden Gem that makes the journey feel every bit as memorable as the destination.
