Happy Saturday! Let's start our day with a little small business math, shall we?

Back to school season is here, which means you're probably out and about today getting last minute things to fill back packs...which means it won't be long before the sponsorship requests start rolling in! 🏒🥅🏀⚽🏊🏼🏐🎭🥁

And we genuinely LOVE being able to say YES.

But here's the not so complicated math:

We can't give back what we don't bring in - NONE of us small businesses can. 🤷‍♀️

Every team sponsorship, tournament donation, fundraiser contribution, case of water, gift certificate, and community initiative has to come from somewhere.

And that "somewhere" starts with YOU choosing to support the businesses that support your community.

So when you need a windshield replaced or repaired, wipers, windshield treatment, or the any of the services we offer, remember the businesses where you dropped off those sponsorship requests...the ones whose names you see on the jerseys, rink boards, tournament posters, and donation tables.

Because when you choose Speedy Glass Stephenville & Corner Brook, you're doing more than getting your vehicle taken care of.

You're helping us say YES the next time someone walks through our door and says...

"We're fundraising for the kids..."

For a while now we have been trying to develop a plan to help our small business friends. We can't stock EVERY glass available - it's simply impossible, and we can usually have our glass overnight or within a few days - which, on the west coast of an island in the middle of the North Atlantic, 7 hours away from our warehouse, is pretty a pretty good thing to be able to say (at least we think so😅).

👉Offer same-day appointments whenever possible - we know you're busy. We also know a vehicle off the road can mean lost time, lost productivity, and lost money. When something happens, we'll do our best to get your in, get it done, and get your moving.

👉Save you more when services are bundled with a windshield replacement - Registered businesses can receive discounts on additional products and services when bundled in the SAME appointment as a replacement, including things like:

✔Windshield Treatments

🐾🚐MOVE OVER, HUMANS...JAKE'S GOT THIS!🚐🐾

Earlier this week, we showed you just how many different kinds of vehicles roll through Speedy Glass Corner Brook & Stephenville.

Cars. Trucks. Motorhomes. Luxury homes on wheels...you name it, we've probably had glass to fit it.

But apparently, it's not just the vehicles that come in all shapes and sizes...

We get all kinds of drivers too.🤣

Meet Jake.

Jake rolled in behind the wheel of his camper looking like he had places to be, snacks to find, and absolutely ZERO patience for anyone questioning whether he has a valid driver's license. In fact, he laid on the horn while we were taking his picture to try and throw us off our game...sorry buddy...not our first set of paws!!

This one was born to break the rules.

🐾Hands/paws at 10 & 2? Debatable.
🐾Seatbelt? We'll have to have a chat.
🐾Mirrors adjusted? Probably checking for treats.
🐾Confidence behind the wheel? OFF THE CHARTS.

We're not sure where Jake is headed, but judging by that face, somebody better yell ROAD TRIP!!!

Happy National Dog Day from our four legged team member in Corner Brook! 🐾🐾

🐾CHASE'S CORNER - NATIONAL DOG DAY EDITION!🐾

Well, folks, apparently it's National Dog Day, which I assume means today is finally ALL ABOUT ME! 😎

Shop Mom says that's not exactly how it works, but I'm choosing not to hear her. I've perfected the art of selective hearing.🤣

If you've visited Speedy Glass Corner Brook, you probably already know I have a pretty sweet gig. I have a comfy place to nap, lots of people to visit, an entire shop to supervise, and most importantly, TREATS 🍖!

Lots and lots of treats.

Some might even say Shop Mom has me spoiled. 🙄But have you SEEN how spoiled everyone else is around here? Coffee...snacks...lunches....birthday treats....

So really, why should I be any different? 🤣🤷‍♂️🐾

All joking aside, pets are so much more than animals that live in our homes. They're family. They're there on good days and the hard ones. They provide comfort without asking questions, emotional support without appointments, and somehow know exactly when you need a furry head in your lap or a paw beside you.

And around here, I like to think I'm pretty important for shop morale, too.

I keep everyone smiling. I encourage mandatory cuddle breaks. I remind people when it's snack time. And I am an EXCELLENT customer sniffer and greeter! 👃🐾

⭐Five-star greeting service.
⭐Tail wags included.
⭐Personal space boundaries occasionally questionable.

Of course, we understand that not everyone is comfortable around dogs, and that's perfectly ok! We always take steps to make sure every customer feels comfortable and welcome when they visit us.

Sniffs or no sniffs, we've got you covered!

So today, give your furry family members an extra cuddle, or extra walk, or -and I cannot stress this enough - AN EXTRA TREAT!

Because they may only be a part of your lives for a while...but to them you're they're WHOLE WORLD.

We are so happy that we were able to bring this initiative to Stephenville in May! We look forward to making it “tradition.”😊

❤Red Bag Days - More Than a Food Drive❤

When we started Red Bag Days, we hoped we could fill some bags, stock some shelves, and make life a little easier for families in your community.

What we didn't realize was that somewhere along the way, we were creating a tradition.🥹❤

Every year, we see parents and grandparents along to fill their Red Bags. They pick out the groceries together. They talk about why they're doing it. And in those simple moments, they're teaching lessons that will last far longer than the food inside those bags.

They are teaching their children to help lift people up instead of looking down on them. They're teaching them that no everyone has the same circumstances. They're teaching them that needing help is nothing to be ashamed of - because life can change in an instant, and none of us truly knows when we may find ourselves on the receiving end of the same kindness we once gave to someone else.

And most importantly, they're teaching them to be givers.

Of all the things we can teach our children - all the lessons, skills, and wisdom we hope to pass along - teaching them to notice when someone needs a hand and to willingly reach theirs out might be one of the most important.

Someday those little hands helping fill a Red Bag will be the adults shaping our community. And THAT is pretty incredible.

We are so honoured that Speedy Glass's Red Bag Days has become part of family traditions in our community. What started as a food drive 8 years ago has become something MUCH bigger - neighbours helping neighbours, families teaching families, and one generation showing the next what community really means.

Fill a bag. Feed a family. Teach a lesson. Start a tradition. Thank you to the Momma who documented her tradition in pictures and shared them with us.

Thank you, village, for reminding us year after year just how much good can fit inside one little red bag.

Some people spend a lifetime making a difference. Pat Moore has spent 36 years answering the call when others needed help.

This week, we are incredibly proud to recognize PAT MOORE, a member of the Bay of Islands Volunteer Search and Rescue (BOISAR) as this week's Speedy Star of the Week!

Pat is BOISAR's longest serving member, with an incredible 36 years of volunteer service. During that time, he has responded to somewhere between 450 and 500 search and rescue call outs, covering hundreds of kilometers of backcountry throughout the west coast - much of it on foot.

Lost hunters. Berry pickers. Hiking accidents. Snowmobile accidents. Wilderness emergencies of almost every kind. When someone needed help, Pat answered the call.

His service has touched hundreds of individuals and families throughout Corner Brook, the Bay of Islands, and beyond. Through it all, Pat has remained the kind, positive, and uplifting person who can offer reassurance even in the most difficult circumstances.

And here's the part that makes Pat even more remarkable...

At 85 years young, he is STILL an active member of BOISAR (joking that if he wins the lottery he may retire).

He continues to answer the call, lend his experience to the team, and apparently, serve as one of their most enthusiastic recruiters! 😊

When he isn't helping keep others safe, you'll find Pat enjoying fishing, bowling, playing snooker, or cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens. 🎣🏒

Pat, 36 years of volunteer service is an extraordinary legacy - and you're not finished yet! Thank you for the countless hours, kilometers, searches and sacrifices you have made for people you may not have ever known. Thank you for being there for families on some of their hardest days. And thank you for showing us what community service truly looks like.
