Well, it's official! RED BAG DAYS ARE COMING TO STEPHENVILLE AND WE ARE HERE FOR IT!!!!!!!

We will have bags available for filling at Speedy Glass, 192 Hansen Memorial Highway, and the Town Office at 125 Carolina Avenue (see Symone Hunt - she's our angel helper 😊) as of NOON on MONDAY, MARCH 23rd!

Remember, each bag filled receives an entry for a pizza party! This is a great team activity, so come on fellow businesses - take a bag (or two😜) for your team to fill, and get a chance at winning a pizza party! Keep in mind, we do a separate draw for families/individuals so there are TWO pizza parties up for grabs!

We are proud to have the LearnStar After School Program and the Department of Social Supports and Well Being on board so far and we are hoping for many, MANY more! The DEADLINE to have filled bags returned is Friday, May 29th. They can be dropped off at the town hall/office, or we can arrange to pick them up from you. We would appreciate ALL BAGS returned - even if you were unable to fill them (there will be ZERO judgement - we get that situations change) - as we reuse them each year.

We are firm believers that giving is the best gift you can give yourself. These are hard times and some find it much harder than others. If you're fortunate enough to be able to help, please do. Let's come together and get workin' on that longer table, shall we?

Thank you for choosing Speedy Glass - it makes these things possible 🙏.

It's Winner Wednesday once again, folks!! We head to Meadows today to congratulate GARRET BRAKE!

We are told that Garret is the kindest, gentlest soul you could ever meet. Garret gives freely of his time, energy, and heart coaching the wrestling team at Templeton Academy. He can also be found at the Meadows Rink coaching the hockey program, to which he is extremely dedicated. It takes a special person to coach youth sports, and Garret, we believe you have that quality!

When he's not on the mat or in the rink, he is the "hardest working nurse you'll meet" according to his nominator (and we have been sworn to secrecy, Garret, sorry!😜)! Granted, it's not a job for everyone. I always said it takes patience to have patients - on a level all its own!

Garret can also be found plowing driveways for whomever may be in need of it. He tends to his parents, neighbours, etc. In his spare time, he loves hanging out with his son, Phoenix, to whom Garret is an absolute idol, and his best friend and wife, Melissa. Together, the three make the most of Garret's precious days off.

Garret pours his heart and soul into volunteering with the youth on the North Shore, and loves them like his own. Garret, I'm sure you're making an impression that you don't even realize you're making - keep on being your amazing self and setting an example they can grow by. Congratulations on being this week's Speedy Star of the Week! (And we still can't tell you who nominated you. ).

We asked, and Village, you answered 🙏!!

We are OVER THE MOON EXCITED to announce that RED BAG DAYS in aid of Stephenville Emergency Food Services will be happening during the month of May, and hopefully, it will become an annual thing like it has in Howley, Deer Lake, Pasadena, and Corner Brook. Our community needs us - let's come together and make this happen!

We want to give a HUGE shout out to LearnStar After School Program at Stephenville Primary for being the first to come on board with this initiative! Those littles will be filling bags for the local food bank, so we can too!

We will also be working closely with Symone Hunt, Recreation & Wellness Coordinator for the Town of Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, who will assist in the distribution and collection of bags, and the Town Hall will serve as a drop off site for filled bags! Remember that each bag filled will receive an entry for a pizza party compliments of Speedy Glass Stephenville, and there will be a draw for businesses/organizations/groups and one for individuals and families! You are always welcome to deliver/donate directly to the food bank, but if you participate through this initiative, we can pick up and deliver for you AND you get a chance to win!

If anyone wishes to participate, please reach out to us. We will be keeping a list and will get bags out as soon as we can, but the deadline to have donations/filled bags returned to either Speedy Glass Stephenville or the Town hall will be the last Friday in May, and we will be arranging delivery as early as possible that following week.

You can see the yearly totals in Corner Brook alone since we started this initiative - let's bring that to Stephenville, shall we? Corner Brook was first, then Deer Lake and Pasadena followed in years two and three, and now we have Stephenville!! SO AMAZING! The combined total for 2025 for all three food banks was over $24,000 value - not many of us (if any of us) can do that alone - but it's amazing what people can do when they band together. There's power in numbers!

We can't wait to see where this takes us!

We have a few connections made to help get this going, but we would LOVE to be able to fill the new food bank location SOOOO FULLL! It’s needed now more than ever.

We completely understand that life is expensive. It’s hard for all of us. But we hate the thought of seniors having to go without because they’re on a fixed income. We hate the thought of a family having to choose between other things their children need and putting food on the table. We are in a position to come together as a community and help our more vulnerable citizens.

And the kicker?? You never know when you will be the one needing help. Mel Robbins said it best - “we are all just one decision away from a totally different life.”

Let’s make this happen, folks!!! WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The weather is definitely playing with us, but perhaps today is a “spring” in the right direction!🤪

I never took rain as a mood booster, but after the winter we’ve had, the warm temps and the liquid sunshine are a welcomed change - you don’t have to shovel the rain!!

Today is great day to visit us for a water repelling windshield treatment and a new set of wipers! I mean…if there’s grass showing ANYWHERE because of this rain, I’d wanna see it really clearly! Wouldn’t you?

Spring is coming, folks! Get the party started at Speedy Glass!

Ok Stephenville & Surrounding area - LISTEN UP.

We have owned the Speedy Glass Franchise in Corner Brook since 2019. Come August of this year, we will have been in Stephenville for two years. For two years I have been trying to find a way to make Red Bag Days happen.

Red Bag Days is a community initiative that was started in August of 2019 as a way for us to give back to our community. If you follow our Speedy Glass Corner Brook page, you will see that this is a HUGE deal and it's been unbelievably successful...and giving back to our community isn't just important to us - it's the backbone of our business.

The idea is to distribute our Red Bags to members of the community (individuals, families, businesses, sports teams, groups, etc) to fill for the local food bank, and for each bag filled, the donor receives an entry for a pizza party compliments of Speedy Glass. To even the playing field, we award TWO pizza parties - we understand that a family may want to give and can fill one bag, whereas a business with many employees may fill twenty bags. BOTH donations are equally important, so there is a pizza party draw for families/individuals, and one for businesses/organizations/groups.

We now collect in Howley (my hometown, which is serviced by the Deer Lake Food Bank so all donations from Howley go there), Deer Lake (all donations stay in Deer Lake), Pasadena (all donations stay in Pasadena), and Corner Brook & the Bay of Islands (all donations stay in Corner Brook). This happens during the entire month of August, with the exception of Pasadena (because we need help!!!), which takes place usually in October or November.

To make a food drive of this magnitude happen, we need help. In Howley and Deer Lake I have friends and family who distribute the bags and collect the donations, and a business cohort who acts as a drop off hub for bags so we have one stop to make on delivery day (thanks to West Coast Diesel Ltd. for that). In Corner Brook, myself and my Speedy Glass team make it happen, and it's gotten so huge that Midland Courier has voluntarily come on board to transport all the bags to the food bank so we aren't making trips back and forth the entire day! In Pasadena, we had the help of the career students at Pasadena Academy who were responsible for distribution and collection and received credit for those community hours needed for graduation! Prior to that we worked with the Pasadena Leos to make it happen. How awesome is that?!?!

We are forever thankful to everyone who has helped make this happen. Because of this community, last year alone we have been able to collect and deliver:

$7894.10 worth of groceries & donations in Deer Lake
$7693.05 worth of groceries & donations in Corner Brook
$9200.10 worth of groceries & donations in Pasadena

That's right - last year alone we were able to help local food banks to the tune of $24,787.25!!! And it's all because we have such an incredible village.

We want to bring this to you - but we need help. We work with the food banks and we will deliver all donations collected. The food banks always return our bags for use the following year 😊.

If you are a part of a group, a class, or an organization and would like to be our "elves" for the Stephenville area, PLEASE REACH OUT! If you own a business and would be willing to serve as a "drop off hub," please let us know. Our communities need us, and we cannot do this alone.

If anyone wishes to see more photos, head over to our Speedy Glass Corner Brook page - and help us make this page just as full.😊
