Been awhile but keep watching KOH is being revamped and reinvented and rejuvenated!!

So today a lot has opened my eyes and I am working in the city on a 2007 Audi S4 cabriolet. Its hydraulic pump motor for the folding soft top isn't working. Nothing easily available to replace it and it has a $3100 price tag from the dealership 2 days away.

I saw a tee shirt that sums up us journeymen automotive service technicians nicely "curious enough to take it apart, skilled enough to fix it and put it back together"
This is my new mantra... supporting my goal of saving my clients time and money!

I disassembled the pump and motor. Then disassembled the motor. I found contaminated / burnt commentator contacts at the brushes. A little fine emery cloth some compressed air and it's as good as new. Dollar wise we have saved $3000 plus taxes.

September 11th 2012 was an awesome day for KOH. My first restoration project has come in, its 2 wheels short, but what a great opportunity. KOH will be restoring and documenting for all my facebook followers a 1963 Vespa 160 GS mark 2!! Check out the photos! Took the daughter to Rocket Rally Racing yesterday.... First what a top notch establishment. Seriously they are firing on all cylinders, anyone with a Suberu that is serious about modifying it has got to talk to them. Not only do they build incredible vehicles and have a dual axle rolling chassis dyno for tuning, but they have sweet connections for live action testing!!! Great guys there from what I could see and I was obviously not spending money there at that time, but I was still given a quick tour of the shop and dyno cell. $160 for 3 pulls BTW.... looking for dyno testing???? there is no where else to go!!! drive up the sea to sky gets you and your car happily warmed up get your results, stop at The Rock bar and grill for a bite to eat and chat with a great car loving bartender and cruise home back through the twists and turns of arguably one of the most exciting and scenic highways in Canada, heck I 'd put it up with any high way anywhere!!!!!

So back to Rocket Rally.... Top Class place. My daughter loved the place and cars so much she had a More-Car-Meltdown, poor thing. I had to break out my Car Encyclopaedia when we got home so she could see more cars..... Obviously the depth of my love of cars is down to a genetic level.... It was passed on with no encouragement from me, but now she has shown she is hooked well I'll have her rebuilding engines when she is 6!! Looks like KOH Racing will be a father-daughter team, first race.... The 2020 Targa Newfoundland!

And I'm back. Sorry but I had to shut the page down after my previous employer terminated my employment for what they believed to be a "conflict of interest". I know it may sound odd, but that is how delicate the dealership market has become. With more and more customers realizing that there are huge financial gains to be made by having certain services and repairs performed by independent shops as soon as an employee may be capitalizing on that and potentially taking customers away, the dealership has to protect their interests. Now that said, I wasn't about to bite the hand that feeds, but I wasn't given any sort of trial and there was no inquiry. I understand their position being over staffed for the amount of work coming in something had to give. Unfortunately it was my employment. That's life, and that's business, and that said its now open season on any and all automotive brands that I wish to work with.

I shut the page down in a panic to attempt to gain employment at another dealership. That didn't pan out and I am not about to commute any further then I already was! Now that I am gainfully employed again with a company there is no possible conflicting interests and a lot of room to grow I figured it was about time to republish this page and get on with building my empire!

Steve Jobs once said "Your customers dream of a happier and better life. Don’t move products. Enrich lives." That is the mantra of KOH. Its not about taking money from my customers, its about providing them with what they need to make their vehicle maintenance and repair as easy and stress free as possible.

The late great Mr. Jobs also said "Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren’t used to an environment where excellence is expected." I am confident that no one else, not a dealership, not an independent shop nor a 'back-yard-mechanic' can provide the quality of service and dedication to customer satisfaction that KOH will.

To work, the trail or the track, KOH will get you there and back.

Kirchmeier Otto Haus is a mobile diagnostic, service, minor repair, modification, restoration, hand detailing and automotive education company. It is the culmination of nearly two decades of observation and participation in the automotive service industry. I have seen the industry slowly shift to a fast food style of operation and am no longer content being any part of it. Who would you rather have servicing your vehicle the one who does it the fastest or the one who does it right?

Passion, honesty and integrity and less prevalent in the industry these days and they are no longer rewarded as they once were. Manufacturers are reducing times for repairs to save money. Technicians paid flat rate have to find faster ways to do the repair or loose income. Corners are cut, repairs are rushed and sometimes more issues are created. Gone are the days when a family had a trusted mechanic, when a woman could leave a garage not feeling taken advantage of and when helping people out weighed the ole'mighty dollar. Or are they? I am one man with a vision, to provide service with honesty and integrity, fueled by the passion of the little boy I was who could never get enough of cars and trucks, whose mom made him picture books, who knew every car his parents owned and who always asked his uncles about their hot rod stories. Being a gear head is in my blood!

Kirchmeier Otto Haus is bringing back the old school way of operating mixing in all the technology of today. I am here to save you money, time and stress, prolong the life of your vehicle, build the vehicle of your dreams and/or provide honest advice and information. Sure I like money, but I like the respect of my family and myself a heck of a lot more! Am I a dinosaur, stuck in a time society has forgot? Most likely, but why not capitalise on it for yourself?
