Lets talk about PSS Shaft seals - they are an excellent and well proven shaft seal design. Every Marine repair Professional has something to say about their favourite shaft seal design. Mine are PSS.... They are a straightforward design that works reliably. if the shaft is grooved or pitted they will still work with minimal shaft dressing, of course if your shaft looks like it went through a meat-grinder you may have bigger problems that need to be addressed first but overall they are the winner for us here at West Coast Marine Diesel. The head was pulled due to an external coolant leak from the head gasket. after everything is checked for straightness it can be put back together and back into service - call us at west coast marine diesel if you need any major engine repairs - you would be surprised what we can do with the engine still on the boat.

This is the raw water pump from a ford lehman diesel. there are a couple things going on here - one is the corrosion issue but the other is the pump needs an update - this is the old style ford lehman pump with a two piece shaft. they had a tendency to break the coupler and cause the pump to stop working and then a massive overheat. It is important to have a professional in the engine room sourcing out potential problems. This is all part of owning a boat and maintaining it in good safe running condition.
