On July 15 2006, Constable Robin Lynelle Cameron (29 yrs old) Died from gunshot wounds sustained while responding to a domestic violence call near Mildred, Saskatchewan. Constable Marc Joseph Denis Bourdages (26 yrs old) succumbed to his injure and died the following day. July 16, 2006.

The Incident: On July 7, 2006, three officers from the RCMP detachment in Spiritwood, Constables Robin Cameron (29), Marc Bourdages (26), and Michelle Knopp, responded to a complaint of an assault at a home close to the detachment. A man later identified as Curtis Alfred Dagenais (41) fled the scene in a pickup truck. The officers followed, and the ensuing pursuit lasted 27 kilometres (17 mi). During the chase, gunfire was exchanged between the officers and Dagenais. All three officers discharged their weapons, but none of them managed to hit their quarry, meanwhile Cameron and Bourdages were both shot once in the head through their car windshield while Knopp was struck by bullet fragments in the arm, ear, and torso.[6] Dagenais abandoned his car and escaped on foot.[5][7]
Working in the nearby town of Shellbrook that night, Staff Sergeant Barry Thomas received a call for back-up, and was one of the first officers to find the constables at the scene. The two officers later died of their wounds, Cameron on July 15 and Bourdages early the next morning, on July 16.[5] The bullet fragments that struck Knopp have since remained embedded in her ear, arm, and torso.[7]
A massive manhunt failed to find Dagenais, who turned himself in without incident to the RCMP's Spiritwood detachment on July 18, after twelve days.[5] While he was on the run, Dagenais mailed a self-justifying 5-page letter to the Edmonton Sun

This 3-day, instructor-level course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to deploy ballistic shields with enhanced mobility, adaptability, and offensive accuracy—while maintaining full reliability of their weapon systems.
As developing instructors, students will learn to efficiently adjust and deploy the shield across a variety of operational environments, enabling them to decisively engage and defeat threats with confidence and precision. Emphasis is placed on the ability to manipulate weapon systems and clear malfunctions using either hand, ensuring operational effectiveness under adverse conditions.

Participants will train in an aggressive, forward-operating posture utilizing both primary and secondary weapon systems. Instruction incorporates multiple shooting platforms, including standing, kneeling, and prone positions, along with extensive movement-based drills to reinforce real-world application.

The third day is designed to further enhance student development through increased repetitions of core skills introduced on Day 2, which can include potential integration of Simunition-based scenario training, and expanded discussion of advanced and optional tactics. This additional time also allows for structured student instructor “teach-backs,” combining live-fire exercises and practical application demonstrations to solidify instructional competency and reinforce learning objectives.

On July 11, 1937, Sergeant Davidson attempted to question two men who were changing licence plates on a vehicle on the street. One of the men pulled a gun and shot Sgt. Davidson six times, twice in the head and four in the back. Fatally wounded, he died in the hospital nine days later. He was able, however, to identify his attackers prior to his death from photographs.

The suspects, Victor Gray and Tom Ponomanenko, were subsequently cornered by a police patrol near the Spanish River railway bridge. Gray was killed in the shooting that followed, and Ponomanenko was wounded. He was charged and convicted of murder and hanged in Sudbury at midnight on January 22, 1938.

Sergeant Malcolm Groat Finlayson Jack, Edmonton Police Service

On July 2, 1959, Sgt. Jack died from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision. While on route to a fire alarm at the Capital City Box Company, the police vehicle in which he was a passenger was struck at 93 Street and 104 Avenue by a fire truck responding to the same alarm.

Constable Ezio Faraone was assigned to a Tactical Team Unit. On June 25, 1990, Cst. Faraone detected the vehicle used by two suspects fleeing an armed robbery in an alleyway. Cst. Faraone observed only one suspect with the vehicle. With his attention focused towards this suspect, a second suspect hidden from view in the backseat, exited the vehicle and ambushed Cst. Faraone, shooting him and killing him instantly.

Montreal police officer Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane was killed in the line of duty on June 22, 2026. (X/Service de police de la Ville de Montréal)
Montreal police have just confirmed the identity of the police officer who was killed. He was 34-year-old Mohamed Lamine Benredouane.

He had been with the force since 2021.

“It is with profound sadness that we confirm the tragic death of Const. Mohamed Lamine Benredouane in the line of duty, protecting the population,” reads a statement from Montreal police.

“His death is a huge loss for our organization. His sense of duty, commitment and professionalism will forever stay in our memories.”

The statement from police ends with: “Fallen, but never forgotten.”

Here’s what we know so far:

A fatal shooting took place in Montreal’s Côte-des-Neiges neighbourhood Monday afternoon, near De Courtrai and Trans Island avenues, leaving a civilian, a Montreal police officer and a suspect dead.

One police officer was severely injured and is reportedly in stable condition, according to Montreal police Chief Fady Dagher. Another civilian was mildly injured.

Montreal police “neutralized” a suspect this afternoon. The shooter is linked to the misogynistic “incel” (involuntary celibate) subculture and, according to Radio-Canada, distributed a violent incel manifesto targeting women.

Quebec’s domestic security minister said the shooting is unrelated to recent out-of-province shootings and remains a “domestic case.”

The province’s police watchdog is investigating the Montreal police intervention.
