❄️ “But they’re ALL-SEASON tires…” 🛞

Here’s one of the biggest MISCONCEPTIONS we hear every winter:

All-season does NOT mean all Canadian seasons 🇨🇦

All-season tires are designed to handle a wide range of conditions — but once temperatures consistently drop below about 7°C, their rubber begins to harden and they lose some of the grip you want for cold-weather driving.

❄️ Winter tires are different.

They’re specifically designed with rubber compounds and tread patterns that perform better in:
• Cold temperatures
• Snow & slush
• Ice
• Winter braking and cornering

And here in New Brunswick, winter can mean snow one day, freezing rain the next, slush in the afternoon — and everything frozen solid by morning. 😅

So while the name “all-season” sounds like it should mean all four seasons, that can be misleading in our climate.

👉 For New Brunswick winters, dedicated winter tires are the better choice — studded or non-studded depending on your driving needs.

Not sure which option is right for you? Stop in or give us a call at Discount Tire & Automotive!

❤️ THE FAMILY BEHIND DISCOUNT TIRE & AUTOMOTIVE

We share a lot of tires, sales and specials on here… but every once in a while, it’s nice to share a little bit about the people behind the business. ❤️

Discount Tire & Automotive is, and always has been, a family business.

We’ve built our business right here in Saint John, and over the years this community has supported our family more than we could ever put into words.

Behind every set of tires sold, every vehicle through the shop, every phone call and every Facebook message is a small local business — and a family that genuinely appreciates you choosing to shop local.

Some of us work in the business every day. Some cheer us on from the sidelines. And as you can probably tell from the picture… there are quite a few of us and quite a few shops in the Maritimes! 😂❤️

We’re proud of what our family has built, but even more grateful for the customers who have allowed us to keep building it.
Whether you’ve been coming to us for years, recommended us to a friend, shared one of our posts or just recently discovered us — thank you.

Saint John is home. And we’re proud to serve it. ❤️

🛞 WHERE ARE YOUR TIRES ACTUALLY MADE? ✨

We hear this one all the time:

“I don’t want an overseas tire.”

But here’s something many drivers don’t realize — the tire industry is GLOBAL. 🌎

Think of brands you already know: Michelin • Bridgestone • Continental • Goodyear • Pirelli

Depending on the tire model, size and, market, major manufacturers produce tires in facilities throughout North America, Europe, and Asia — including countries such as China, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, India, and Vietnam.

Does that automatically mean it's a cheap or poor-quality tire?

No!

The country stamped on the sidewall tells you where that particular tire was manufactured — it doesn't tell you the whole story about its quality.

There ARE differences between tires.

A $100 budget tire isn't automatically equivalent to a $300 premium tire simply because they're manufactured in the same country.

But the opposite is also true:

A tire isn't automatically poor quality simply because it was manufactured overseas.

What matters is the manufacturer, tire model, construction, materials, testing, quality control, and whether that tire is appropriate for your vehicle and driving conditions.

At Discount Tire & Automotive, we carry different brands and price points because everyone's NEEDS and BUDGET are different.

Not familiar with a tire brand you're considering?

Ask us! 🛞

We'll tell you what you're getting, where it comes from, and help you choose a tire that makes sense for your vehicle and your budget!
