Some words we received from one of Travis Barr best friends. Josh Peters thank you for this❤️
I can only try and speak on Travis’s character.
I don’t need to tell you who Travis Barr was. Because It would be impossible to have met him, even for a moment, and not come away with full the Travis experience…mostly a positive one! Lol…He was great and you all know it. To know him was to love him.
Travis would to talk to anyone, and he enjoyed talking to complete strangers. Even with his towering stature..it was his warm and friendly demeanour that people really saw. He could disarm anyone. Right away you felt that you were his equal, and no matter what you never felt any less in his presence. What you saw was what you got, and in todays world that is more rare than ever.
He stood by his word personally and in his business dealings. A man from the old school, the last of a breed, where a handshake meant something. And the shop that he built from the ground up, Travis Barr auto glass, embodied that quality. And it was not only a flourishing family business in our community, but a stomping ground for like minded individuals, that enjoyed a beer and a good laugh. The stories that shop could tell are endless, and a lot of people will cherish them, until the end of our days. I know I will.
Travis always found the time for us,…and with minimal complaining! some…lol but minimal mostly….He saved all our asses, and on more than one occasion. Especially mine.
He was the guy we called, the first person we thought of when we needed help. The one who gave us advice. The one we all leaned on.
But that’s because we knew that Travis could handle the situation, you all seen him do it. The first guy with the w***h in hand, to pull you out of the proverbial mud hole. Whether it was a busted tire, a broken bike, a dead battery, a broken windshield, …an encounter with an irate customer..lol..He could fix it man, or smooth talk his way out of it. Right Becky?
I can say that probably none of us will ever truly know how he felt and the pain that he went through on a daily basis. He cared too much to bring it up. He would never dream of burdening anyone with his daily struggles, that just wasn’t him. With Travis the mood was light and upbeat, no matter what he was going through. That made him in my eyes, stoic, tough as nails…..(scared of the dark mind you…and snakes and needles)….but really was was as brave as they come. For living with the type of ailments that he had, in turn he lived everyday to the fullest…”Live like you’re dying”
These are all aspiring traits for anyone to have, but man he genuinely had them. We all adored him for that. He usually had the answer, and that made you feel better when he was around.
Each and every memory we have with Travis is mostly all thanks to him, I’m sure. He truly enjoyed people and life in a way I’ll never understand. The true definition of a family man…
I don’t think he liked “alone time” I think he just loved being surrounded by his family and fiends..and pets. And we all loved so much being surrounded by him.
Again, anyone who knew Travis, knows all of this. He already told all us in the the way he lived his life. He told us In his own special and unique way, through the connections he made with each and every one of us.
This is who we must remember and cherish, today, for always. ‘our go to for anything, call on for anything, our lean on for anything” father, husband , Bampy, sibling, and friend.
