Our store is a little quieter, our town a little dimmer, and our hearts a lot heavier as we mourn the loss of Roy Holmes. Roy was the owner of Shore Road Garage, a brilliant and honest mechanic, and a top-notch human to say the least. Roy was a cherished customer of our small family business for many decades and furthermore a friendly face and a loyal friend; Roy was family. Roy was a man of integrity and faith; always going the extra mile for both his customers and those he loved. He made time for others even when his day was already stretched too thin, just to help someone out of a pinch and see them back on the road with their safety always being of upmost importance. Roy was the first to show up without asking- whether that was to move dozens of shelves worth of inventory or by simply providing a prayer for someone in a time of need. His kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed and his presence across our counter will always be missed. “This is me, is that you?” will forever be a phrase missed received on the other end of the telephone when he called to order his parts; and we’ll never forget that no matter what kind of day he was having- he was always “terribly fine” whenever asked.
Roy, it was a pleasure to serve you, work with you, learn from you, and quite frankly just to know you. The world will be a lot less bright without you in it, but we are so thankful to have had the privilege of seeing you perform your life’s work in more ways than one.
Our thoughts and hearts are with his Sisters Heather, Donna, and Dena and the rest of his family and friends during this difficult time ❤️.
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle, friend, mechanic of Shore Road Garage, and man of God, Roy V. Holmes, who passed away on August 7, 2026. There are some people who leave fingerprints on everything they touch. Roy was one of those people.
