Should be starting to see some relief in both gas and diesel as we start a downward cycle. Most of you may not see these pricing cycles at the retail pumps but competitive commercial operations like high volume cardlocks tend to fluctuate with wholesale cost.
Coming close to the Sept 8 return of the federal excise tax.

Gas prices are mostly stable but diesel is going crazy.
The industry blames it on the Iran war and Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries affecting world wide supply of refined products.
Sigh 😞
Wasn’t control of our own energy one of the stated reasons for the establishment of a state owned oil company years ago (PetroCanada)?
Oh well, if you’re a diesel consumer, hang on to your wallets ‘cause there’s lots of demand on it.

Remember when?
This was our highway sign back in 2001 when we were still a Shell Franchise.
This is part of our Where’s Waldo series. Head office kept asking us for pictures of the property even though we had sent them numerous times before. To keep from going crazy we had some fun with it. We dressed up our bookkeeper in coveralls and a hard hat and put her in all of the pictures (more to come). She was practicing her golf swing in this picture. Of course no one at head office even noticed because they were good at requesting things but not good at reading them 😂 The blue box is how truckers made phone calls back then. 😲

Wholesale gas prices have been creeping up a couple of cents per day. Diesel increases even higher.
Barring any prices wars, expect to see increase in both. Wouldn’t surprise me to see the highway increase 3 cents to $1.969 in the coming days.

Although not applicable today, we now have a sign we will place on the pumps for those 3 or 4 days per year when we’re not the cheap cheap cheapest.

6 cent per litre increase in the wholesale cost of gasoline overnight. Prepare for another price increase cycle

Did you know we have a hidden Carbon Tax in BC?
While the consumer facing Carbon Tax on fuel was eliminated the Low Carbon Fuel Standard still applies adding approximately 18 cents per litre to the price of gasoline.
All fuel manufactured or imported into BC is required to conform to the LCFS. If I want to import gasoline from Alberta, I have to purchase carbon credits to offset the carbon intensity of transporting it here.
