In winter of 1988, in a cold, cold shop I rebuilt my first engine. It would be the first engine of many. I have continued to build engines of all shapes and sizes for over 35 years! to be totally honest two of those years were spent in a transmission shop trying to keep up with the dead and dying Dodge Caravans! After 10 years of general automotive repair I went back to BCIT and graduated (top of
the class) with my Aircraft Gas Turbine Technician Certification. So if you have ever flown in a Boeing 747 or 737 owned by Air Canada or West Jet in the early 2000's there is a good chance you have experienced my precision work first hand. In the evenings and my days off, while working for Air Canada, I had a small two bay shop in Port Coquitlam where I primarily focused on import repair (Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru and Mazda). After 12 years of the Vancouver rat-race I was ready to return to the Cariboo where I had grown up. I sold everything I owned (except my tools) and moved back. Upon my return I tooled up to meet the local demand for repairing domestic cars and light duty trucks. This allowed me to offer service to an even wider range of customers from my home shop on Gavin Lake. By 2014 Ditoro Motorworks was ready to expand and I opened in downtown Williams Lake. From imports and domestic to heavy duty diesel equipment and commercial vehicle repair, Ditoro Motorworks was busy doing it all. Life took another turn with my family wanting to relocate to Vancouver Island. This new adventure opened the opportunity to work directly with the Bond brother's automotive sales company, Good Used Cars. I closed Ditoro Motorworks in Williams Lake and began operations as a contracted repair services and private shop in the heart of Cobble Hill. I wasn't quite settled yet however. After a couple of years exploring the island, my partner Crystal and I found a beautiful property with a shop where we have re-opened Ditoro Motorworks in Qualicum Beach.
