Our sincerest apologies for any lack of response in the prior month or so, as we have had a lot of changes occurring and it has affected our ability to attend to new business more than we had hoped.

For future reference, our location has changed and our contact info has changed, but we’re still here and more than happy to continue serving Prince George in training commercial drivers with the same passion and dedication we always have.

We hope that 2024 is starting off with a favourable bang for all of you and if you’re looking for commercial driver training this coming year, we hope to be in your wheelhouse to assist you!

As most of us are aware, in B.C. as of October 18th 2021, Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) is now a required curriculum for any aspiring professional driver to obtain their Class 1 commercial license.

In the wake of these changes, we at Fiddler Industry Driving Solutions have decided to work hand-in-hand with another local driving school, http://www.goteamprotraining.com/ to meet the escalating demands for skilled drivers for our extensively robust transportation industry here in B.C. and to assist our residents who endeavor to obtain a meaningful, successful, and rewarding career in transportation.

Currently we do all other licensing programs in-house, but any MELT programs will be scheduled at Go Team Professional Training Ltd. (a link to their website is located below for any looking for more information). If you wish to be trained by our instructors, please mention your preference to them when discussing your program.

We're aware that there is a lot of misinformation regarding the requirements, cost, length of training, and difficulties in pursuing commercial driving with the advent of the MELT program, and to combat that, we encourage each of you to contact us or our partners at Go Team Professional Training to help alleviate any of your concerns and help you find the avenues available to you to meet these requirements and challenges with confidence and understanding.

The past few years, with the advent of so many challenges socially, environmentally, politically, and economically, things have been in flux for many of us. But there is a path forward, and we at Fiddler Industry Driving Solutions are determined to help as many as we can to help find their road to a better future.

Go Team Professional Training Ltd. offers Class 1, 2 & 3 commercial driver training for individuals and corporations.

Here's a little excerpt regarding MELT (Manditory Entry-Level Training) and what we can expect in the near future for the trucking industry here in BC.

"As of January of 2019, Federal Transport Minister Marc Garneau has stated that it is a goal on a country-wide level to have mandatory entry level training implemented by January 2020. He believes any person driving a semi-truck should have a minimum level of training and has stated: 'We all agree amongst each other that we need to do this so I'm confident that we will have a good national training standard."

For a frame of reference, here's a small news briefing on the changes you may have heard regarding other provinces instituting MELT, in particular, this one pertains to Manitoba, a province that just initiated the practice September 1st 2019.

With approximately 4,000 positions reported vacant in B.C. province alone last year, the demand for Class 1, 2, and 3 Professional Drivers is greater than ever, with no foreseeable end in sight to the growth in this industrial sector.

Between lack of support from the provincial government in declaring Commercial Driving a trade, thereby granting access to additional funding opportunities and the consistent demand from many companies for "experienced drivers", it can be challenging to find options available to the everyday Canadian.

There are options out there to assist with training expenses, such as Work BC's employment and training options, PGNAETA, and Metis Employment and Training which is accessible for B.C. residents of aboriginal or Metis ancestry, and Kopar Administration's "Skills Quest" program for residents inflicted with a form of disability.

But what options are out there to access training for an individual that is currently working, but having trouble making ends meet or just wanting employment that is more flexible, more secure, or better paid and doesn't have the time, money, or interest in undertaking a college/university degree program that will take years and tens of thousands of dollars to complete? The answer? Virtually NONE!

This is where we try to bridge this gap - to B.C. residents hoping to pursue a career in professional or commercial driving, we can provide custom-designed payment plans to meet your needs, along with flexible timeframes for training so that you can keep working or going to school in the meantime and still work towards that goal you have set to give you and your loved ones a better life. To anyone new in the trucking industry or considering a career as a transport trucker, one of the greatest barriers is deciding what kind of trucking you would like to do and how to get into it.
