Why Do Breakers Trip? When to Call an Electrician
Your breaker tripping is a built-in safety mechanism! It shuts off power to prevent fires and electrical hazards. Here’s why it happens and when to call an electrician.

Common Reasons Your Breaker Trips
1 Overloaded Circuit – Too many devices plugged into one circuit can overload it. Solution: Unplug a few appliances and reset the breaker.

2 Short Circuit – A hot wire touches a neutral wire, creating a dangerous surge of electricity. You may notice sparks, burning smells, or blackened outlets. Call an electrician immediately!

3 Ground Fault – Similar to a short circuit, but the hot wire touches a ground wire or metal part of the box. This can lead to shocks and is a major safety hazard. Call an electrician!

4 Faulty Appliance – A damaged or malfunctioning appliance can trip the breaker every time you use it. Unplug it and test another device in the same outlet.

5 Old or Damaged Breaker – If the breaker trips frequently with no clear cause, it might be worn out. A professional should inspect or replace it.

🛠 When to Call an Electrician
If the breaker trips repeatedly after resetting.
If you see burn marks, smell burning, or hear buzzing from outlets or panels.
If lights flicker or outlets feel warm.
If you experience frequent power loss in certain rooms.
If your panel is outdated (older than 20 years) or struggles to handle modern appliances.
