Trans Canada Motors has been part of the Peterborough community since 1971 when Paul and Dorothy O'Reilly left Toronto to begin what would end up being one of the most highly recognized dealers in the area for their "honest family feeling". The business began as the "By-pass Te
xaco" on Lansdowne East. It became a hot spot for commuters on their way to Ottawa or cottagers on their way to the beautiful Kawarthas. People stopped in to take that long awaited "pit stop" and fill up the tank - most cars at that time consumed more fuel than two cars by today's standards! Trans Canada Motors had an opportunity to enter the import auto market as a franchisee. Then we added some new cars to the mix. Fiat became one and a few others followed, including Nissan, who used the name Datsun until 1984, and our sales and service departments began. After 18 years and three locations we created the Used Car City name and currently sell and service a combination of all makes and models, making us the most diversified dealer in the area. Today, more than 50 years later we have expanded many times, doubling our size and allowing us to provide the best quality vehicles available. Our staff, most of whom have been here for many years, have worked to build a family-focused atmosphere.
