THE IMPORTANCE OF EDGE / VALSPAR THINNERS! 💥

‘Generic’ Reducers VS ‘Matrix Edge’ Reducers. The problems that arise with the use of commodity grade solvents! Some issues include:

Poor hiding, especially in white and pastel colors.
Dark and dirty metallics and pearls.
Rough blend edge or halo.
Lifting on edges.

Pictured above is the same paint formula applied to separate halves of a panel, just different reducers used!

For those that mix ready to spray formulas (RTS) and/or are connected to a scale, the addition of reducers is measured in gram weights. To get the gram weight of the generic thinners, more than 50% of reducer had to be added. Which washed out the final finish and messed with the metallic orientation.

These problems far outweigh the minimal savings you will achieve with commodity thinners/reducers.

When applying the Matrix Edge paintline it is recommended to use its sister products to achieve the best finish and premium result.
