Thank you everyone for visiting the Bluffs! The campground is now closed for the season but we will reopen in April 2020. Here is a look at some of the visitors to the park over this season that are a little different to our normal two legged campers. Hope to see everyone next year!

Looking to spend sometime outdoors with the family this Thanksgiving weekend? Why not come and hike the lookout trail and burn off that turkey and extra slice of pumpkin pie. While you are at it you can witness the beautiful fall colours and take in the sights of the Mighty Saugeen River! 🍂

If you would like to “get back with nature”, or “get away from it all” or just spend some quiet time in a naturally beautiful setting, the Saugeen Bluffs campground is the place for you! Tuesday 8:30 am. I took a moment to take in this wonderful place. The pics are from the canoe sites along the river. The only sounds are birds.

P.S. in a couple weeks when the leaves have turned this view will be stunning! Come and enjoy!

Our Earth

A woodpecker's tongue wraps around its head. When a woodpecker pecks, these tongue bones are retracted and stabilize the skull, providing musculo-sketal support. These also protect its brain from over 1000g of force when it's hammering away by absorbing the shock.

Rabies vaccine baiting is underway in Ontario!

Each summer and fall our rabies staff distribute rabies vaccine baits targeting raccoons, skunks, and foxes by air in rural areas and green spaces and by ground crews in urban areas. The bait is a small package filled with a vaccine that when eaten is absorbed through the lining of the animal's mouth. Within a few weeks of eating the bait, the animal becomes vaccinated. If you find a bait packet in an area where it shouldn't be (such as your yard):
• Don't open it
• Place a plastic bag over your hand to keep your scent off the bait
• Move it to an area where wildlife may find it (such as a forested area)

Pet owners should keep in mind that the vaccine has been tested and is safe if consumed by domestic animals. If your pet has eaten a bait and you are concerned, contact your vet.

To learn more and to view a map of the 2019 rabies baiting area, please visit ontario.ca/rabies.
