Week two in automotive sales… and wow, what a week it’s been 🔥
Two weeks ago I walked into the dealership honestly feeling a little intimidated. There’s so much to learn, and I’m surrounded by people who’ve been doing this for years. It felt like drinking from a firehose.
This week felt different though.
I walked in with a little more confidence and my game face on. Still nervous… but no one else needed to know that lol.
Over the past couple weeks I’ve been doing everything I can to learn as quickly as possible — watching training videos, studying inventory, practicing objections, asking questions, and learning from the people around me.
One thing every great salesperson seemed to agree on:
Repetition.
Flash cards.
Practice.
Observation.
Getting a little better every day.
Then Thursday morning I got the email that my OMVIC license had finally come in.
My first thought was honestly…
oh damn, now it’s real.
Later that evening I closed my first deal!! A shipped vehicle.
But what meant even more to me was another customer experience this week. Someone came in earlier in the week for a test drive, and after talking more about what she actually needed, I showed her another vehicle that fit her situation even better.
She came back today and left a deposit, and we’re hoping to finalize everything early next week.
That moment reminded me of something important: Sales isn’t about selling someone the car they walked in for, it’s about listening enough to help them find the right one.
Still learning. Still growing.
But week two has definitely been exciting.
If you’re in Ottawa and thinking about upgrading your vehicle, I’d love to help. And if you’re in the industry, I’m always open to learning from you.
Curious though — what’s the best piece of advice someone gave you when starting something new?
